Mallory

How about?

Funny conversation with Mallory yesterday. We were out in the backyard – I was sitting in a chair feeding Carson, and she wanted me to push her on the swing. I told her to lay on the swing on her belly and swing that way. Cha-CHING! Go MOM! She did that for about 10 minutes!! Anyway, I really wanted my cup of water and wanted Mallory to retrieve it for me from the table by the house. I kept asking her to get it for me and she kept saying “jussa minute”. Finally, after she told me to watch her swing some more, I said “hey, how about my water?”. Little miss sassy-pants said back: “how about I swing?”.

I am way behind on blogging about life. Here are some highlights:

Mallory getting a pedicure Sunday 5/3 – Mallory & I had a girls day – we went and got a pedicure (basically she got her toes & fingernails painted while I got the full treatment). It was so cute seeing her sitting in the pedicure chair. She was so patient and good while the guy painted her toes! She showed EVERYONE her paint job the whole rest of that day, it was soooooo adorable! After pedicures we went to the softball game (Michigan won) and then to my dad’s for Rick’s birthday dinner. We all swooped in, played, ate dinner and left. As my sister was packing up her car with her kids and we were loading kids into my car, my dad came out and said that it was like a hurricane going through his house with all the noise & chaos. Better his house than mine, I say.

Wednesday 5/6 – UM-OSU softball game. Mallory LOVES LOVES LOVES to go watch softball. We saw Meesa Mello when we pulled up and of course Mallory was all shy and wouldn’t talk to her. Mallory loves to point out Bonnie & Hutch coaching on the field and loved when “The Victors” played over the loudspeakers, but then she’d freak out when everyone started clapping. Carson slept through most of it. Oh, and Michigan swept the Buckeyes. :-)

Friday 5/8 – Picked Mallory up from school and headed to the UM-MSU softball game. In the car, she told me she is little Mallory. I asked her if there was a big Mallory. She told me yes, and that Bryce and Miss Cheri and Bark-Bark live at big Mallory’s house. I asked who else lived there and she told me: “Scawy Warwy (Scary Larry)”. Then she continued on “I don’t like Scawy Warwy”. I was DYING. And when we pulled up to Rick’s work, Mallory saw Meesa’s car in the lot and told me: “Meesa Mello is here! That is Meesa Mello’s green fruck!” (she remembered from Wednesday). Oh, and Michigan beat the Sparties and won the Big Ten Championship :-)

Saturday 5/9 – We went to Alli’s house for dinner and then Alli’s mom & I went out for a drink and dessert, leaving the kids with Rick & Eric. It was nice to get out and have some adult conversation, even though we just talked about our husbands & kids. We returned to her house to hear her husband telling Mallory & Alli that the DVDs on the top shelf were yucky chick flicks. Next time we are going to set up a spy-cam to capture the whole night. LOL.

Sunday 5/10 – We went to breakfast with my family for Mother’s Day. We have learned that Mallory isn’t good about walking into a crowd of people, even if she knows them. She is usually one of the first ones at school in the morning and has no problem being left there, but if we show up late, and all of her friends are already there? She freaks out and won’t let go of me. Same thing happens with my family – we walked into the restaurant and my family was already there. She FREAKED OUT and wouldn’t go say hi to anyone. So bizarre. Anyway, had nice breakfast and then I took the kids & Cooper for a walk at the metropark with my new fancy stroller while Rick got a big bike ride in. Mallory fell asleep in the stroller and woke up for the ride home and then fell asleep again in her bed and gifted me with another 1.5+ hour nap. Wahoo!

Some random stuff to remember:

  • When we look at pictures from when I was still pregnant, Mallory knows that it was Carson in my tummy. But when we remind her that we called my tummy “Baby Arlo” and then try to say that Carson is Arlo, she is able to make the distinction between it being Arlo in my tummy and Carson in real life. She also puts her ball under her shirt and says she has a baby Arlo in her tummy. I will have to get her around some pregnant friends and see if she thinks all tummies are called baby Arlo. LOL.
  • She told me the other day that she wanted me to go back to the hospital. She knows that I work at the hospital so I don’t know if she wanted me to go back to work or go back to have another baby.
  • Mallory’s doctor is across the street from the bike shop. So whenever we go to the bike shop, Mallory points out her doctor.
  • When she is looking for something and finds it, she says “Oh, THERE it is!”. I love the “Oh” at the beginning of her sentences. Cracks me up.

That’s all I have for right now. More to come under separate posts.
