Mallory

Movin’ on up

IMG_2751Well, today was a big day. My little girl “graduated” from the toddler room at daycare and will start in the preschool room on Monday. This means new teachers and new procedures. This new room is all about teaching the kids independence…for instance – at lunch, there is a table of cups (BIG kid cups, not sippy cups!) of water and milk and the kids go pick out their own drink for lunch time. No more daily report cards with potty & meal & nap details. And Mallory has her own cubby now (not just a hook) – Rick said “oooh, she has a locker?!”. I’m so sure.

There was a picnic/potluck thing after school today. Alli’s mom & dad and I decided that it would have been a lot more fun if we had lawnchairs and a cooler of beer but regardless it is always fun to see the girls run around. Another dad even pointed out “they really are inseparable, huh?”. They are soooo cute – they seem to take turns being the leader and the follower, and I LOVE hearing Alli say “HEY MAL!!”.

I am sad about all the “friends” that Mallory is leaving behind in the toddler room. I remember back in January, one little boy moved upstairs all by himself and I was so sad that he was leaving Mallory & Alli, because he seemed to be one of their good buddies. So they are reuniting with Reilly but there are a couple of little kids there who are SOOOO sweet and I’ll miss seeing them everyday. Lauren is in the preschool room for the summer so it will be fun to see how that dynamic plays out with Mallory having both Lauren & Alli around all day. She has a sisterly relationship with both of them…I feel sorry for the teachers who have to deal with them!

I’ll have more later, but will share one more picture before I sign off…
