We went to the doctor to have Mallory’s hand looked at today; turns out she has Cellulitis. So she is on antibiotics for the next week or so. We have to keep an eye out for a fever or streaking red marks up her arms – if either of those happen, we are to call the doctor right away. When I picked Mallory up at daycare today, I told her we were going to have the doctor look at her hand. She proceeded to tell everyone that we were going to the doctor and that the doctor was going to fix her hand. And when we were at the doctor’s office, Dr S asked her where her brother was. Mallory said “At school. He is by himself.” LOL. Rick met us at the doctor’s office too and I think Mallory enjoyed a little alone time with mom & dad, even though it was quick.
ETA: She got the cellulitis from the bug bite she got Sunday night; the doctor said it shouldn’t happen again and to just cover her with bug spray. I asked what we could have done to avoid this – Mallory was outside for literally 3 minutes when she got bit by the bugs. The doctor made me feel better by saying that you don’t really want to put bug spray on her hands anyway since they are always in her mouth. So even if I had put bug spray on her Sunday night, there’s no guarantee it would have prevented this from happening.

The Pumpkinhead is turning into a STINKER lately. When we ask for a kiss, she covers her mouth and shakes her head. Then if you do kiss her somewhere, she wipes it off. My great aunt used to tell us that we were rubbing in the kisses when we wiped them off like that so we’ll have to start using that on Mallory ;-)
Another gift arrived for Carson. This time Mallory held up the outfit and said “Dis is pretty cute!”
She called me Zulu the other day, which is my nickname for her.
And Rick must be brainwashing her on how to shop with me; we were at the grocery store the other day and I was stocking up on my caffeine-free coke – and Mallory says “I think we have this at home already”, as if I shouldn’t be buying more.
At dinner last night, Mallory looked at me with one eye crossed and said “TWO OF MOMMY!” and then looked at Rick the same way and said “TWO OF DADDY!”. She almost had no mommy or daddy after that because Rick & I both choked on our food and almost died because we were laughing so hard. Apparently Rick can cross his eyes in such a way that it makes everything look double. Does anyone else do this?
She is calling us Rick and Sam more and more, which is both funny and disturbing at the same time.
Aw, poor little thing. Glad to hear it should clear up. She is an adult in a little body, but soooo cute. It is amazing what they observe and learn. Better watch what you say. I sure learned my lesson!
I’ve gotta see her cross “one” eye!
