I’m sure you all have been wondering where I’ve been and why no posts (probably thinking my post notification email system was on the fritz again).
Well, have no fear – a new post to the blog is here!
This week has been very unusual and the combination has really cut into my evening time to myself (when I do my best blogging).
Carson’s sleep issues continued (however last night was *almost* normal). I ended up taking him to the doctor on Monday and turns out he has an irritant rash on his back and some eczema on his elbows. I was instructed to put hydro cortisone cream on both and to call if it didn’t get better in 4-5-days. It got worse Monday night and Tuesday but now seems to be getting better. We are wondering if he had some three-month growth spurt issues contributing to his sleep problems. I have had to nurse him to sleep the past two nights to get him to go and stay asleep – this is very unusual too. I just want my good sleeping infant back, please!
Mallory had some sleep issues this past week as well – every night we’d have an hour battle of her not wanting to sleep (no tears on her part, but just lots of her trying to make deals to stay up later). So two nights ago I explained to her that each time she left her room after we put her to bed would result in her losing a bear, then another bear, and then the third time she’d have to hand over her paci. It worked like a CHARM the past two nights. My dad must be an engineer, for as smart as I am :-) She did get up once the first night, but it was at like 1a and it was only because she needed a water. So in the morning I told her how proud I was of her for staying in bed all night, she said “well I DID get up ONCE cause I needed some water”.
The third weird thing is that Rick has been home so much. Instead of taking whole days off in July as vacation, he’s just leaving at 3p every afternoon. So it’s almost like we are a normal family – having both a mom & dad home in the evenings! It has been *really* nice being able to just sit and feed Carson, and not have to walk around the house making dinner or helping Mallory while I’m feeding Carson!

I took the kids to school yesterday morning and it was one of those weird days where the moon was still out when the sun was coming up. Mallory & I talked about that and how the sun was just waking up. I asked her if she thought the sun was brushing his teeth.
She told me “NO!! He doesn’t have a toothbrush!”
I really need to start a page of just stuff that Mallory says. I still crack up when she asks us to do her a “favorite”, instead of a favor.
I know I still owe you pictures of the fireworks – maybe tonight.

Oh, and this doesn’t really have anything to do with our family but I thought I should post it for posterity sake. Michael Jackson died last week (June 25), the same day as Farrah Fawcett. I wasn’t a huge MJ fan (I did like his early stuff with the Jackson 5) but he was a mega huge entertainer and it was a really big deal that he died at the age of 50. People are saying it will be one of those things where you’ll forever remember where you were when you heard Michael Jackson died – I was in our kitchen working on dinner, and Rick was helping Mallory go to the bathroom when he asked me I’d heard MJ had passed.
MJ doesn’t rank up there with JFK or 9/11, in my book.
