Mallory LOVED the fireworks. Holy COW. She was so excited about them all day and couldn’t wait for the sun to go to bed so they would start. She gave us all a running commentary on the colors of each of the fireworks. Quite a contrast to the past two years when she fell asleep during the show! This year was Carson’s turn to sleep during the fireworks and he didn’t move a muscle during any of the booms.
Once again our little lake didn’t disappoint with the show. But every year we think the show is over and we pack up and head across the street to go home, and the show starts up again. Maybe next year we’ll remember it isn’t over the first time we think it’s over.
Oh – forgot about this. My dad brought over a pack of fireworks last year but we never lit them. Rick decided to do some this year…in the street in front of our house. No sooner did he light the fuse, and the SHERIFF pulled down our street. I was DYING, just waiting to see what would happen. The fireworks were bought in Michigan (and thus weren’t illegal) so we were OK. But I thought for sure we’d get in trouble for lighting it in the street but the cop just drove right by the fireworks going off in the street. THANK GOODNESS.

And what is up with the lack of firefly spotting so far this year? I’ve only seen a couple and I am very disappointed. Are they becoming extinct? Do I need to start a “save the firefly” campaign?
