Funny Mallory-ism from this week:
She picked up her toy blackberry and says “Hi Grampa. How is your bacation (vacation)? Is it good? Is it? Ok, bye”

Hey Tough Guy
Sweet baby Mallory took a trio of spills this weekend.
The first tumble happened at daycare Friday afternoon– and we witnessed the whole thing. We were standing at the gate waiting for Mallory to see us…well, she noticed us and got so excited that she took a step off the play equipment (about 2’ off the ground) and fell flat on her face in the sand. Thank GOD it was sand and not a hard[er] surface. Rick & I didn’t move, either because we were unfazed by her fall (99% of the time if she falls – she gets right up …
Cherry-Oh Baby
It took Mallory a while because we had to teach her how to eat around the pit in the middle, but she finally figured out how to eat cherries. Luckily cherries are a summer food so we can strip her down and have her eat them outside – cherries are messy when you eat them Zulu-style.
The best part of watching Mallory eat a cherry is that she takes all these little bites around the pit, and then when all she has left is the pit, she puts it in her mouth so she can spit it out into the bowl …
Fireworks Fotos
Mallory LOVED the fireworks. Holy COW. She was so excited about them all day and couldn’t wait for the sun to go to bed so they would start. She gave us all a running commentary on the colors of each of the fireworks. Quite a contrast to the past two years when she fell asleep during the show! This year was Carson’s turn to sleep during the fireworks and he didn’t move a muscle during any of the booms.
Once again our little lake didn’t disappoint with the show. But every year we think the show is over and we …
Busy busy
I’m sure you all have been wondering where I’ve been and why no posts (probably thinking my post notification email system was on the fritz again).
Well, have no fear – a new post to the blog is here!
This week has been very unusual and the combination has really cut into my evening time to myself (when I do my best blogging).
Carson’s sleep issues continued (however last night was *almost* normal). I ended up taking him to the doctor on Monday and turns out he has an irritant rash on his back and some eczema on his elbows. I was instructed …
4th of July Weekend
I was pretty excited for the 4th of July weekend – since it is the only holiday that Rick doesn’t have to work. I guess he doesn’t have to work Thanksgiving weekend but that holiday always has family & travel stuff associated with it. The good thing about 4th of July is that we can just hang out at home and enjoy the lake.
We boated up the chain with my folks on Friday. The weather wasn’t great – it was grey and sort of chilly. Mallory kept saying she wanted to go swimming but it was way too cold.
Saturday we …
Carson at 3-months
Our sweet baby boy turned three months old this week and with it he turned into a HORRIBLE sleeper. He has been waking up at 1a and Rick brings him upstairs, where he (Carson, not Rick) will kick and grunt and toss and turn and butzie (aka “fart”) for hours until it’s time for us all to wake up. And then he falls asleep for two hours while the rest of us are awake. It sort of ruined our long weekend seeing as how I got zero sleep. Rick would get up with him and try the usual tricks …
Help me decide
In my efforts to save money and not spend it on professional photography, we took family photos in the backyard with my remote timer – bonus points if you can see the remote in my hand in any of the pictures.
Anyway, we need help deciding which is the best. Please vote below.

Mallory does lots of artwork at school but she did this at home and her accompanying descriptions were too funny to not share.
