So, I’ve been peanut-free since the beginning of July and Carson’s “possible peanut allergy” rash cleared right up. Correction, I’ve been peanut-free since the beginning of July with the exception of one Nutter Butter inhaled before I remembered I am not supposed to be eating peanut butter but it was SOOOO good. But anyway.
Well…we went to the allergist on Monday to see about Carson’s “possible peanut allergy” rash.
And all we know now is that I still can’t eat peanuts. They did a skin test and it came back negative – but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have an allergy. It just means he either doesn’t have an allergy or it could mean that he’s too little to tell if he has an allergy. So we go back when Carson is a year and I guess they test him again.
But the allergist also told me that Carson’s skin doesn’t show any of the other “classic” allergy clues – eczema; dry, crusty patches behind the ears or nape of the neck; and some other skin things that I don’t remember right now.
I’m hoping beyond hope that the rash he got in July was a combo of a heat rash and maybe some cross-contamination with the cheap (i.e. not fragrance and dye-free) detergent that I was using for the non-baby clothes. He ended up with some eczema today but I’m pretty sure that was due to me putting baby lotion on him for the first time last night. And I also want to find out what detergent they use at daycare – today was the first time in a long time that he had a two-piece outfit on. The red spots today were concentrated on his back & tummy just above his waist of his pants/diaper…it makes me wonder if he had a reaction to daycare’s detergent (they wash the crib sheets there). I’ll check on that tomorrow. But I gave him a good bath tonight and used vaseline on his dry skin. And then I had to keep him away from the dog (read this post…near the bottom)
Anyway, until next April, I’ll enjoy some crunchy Sunbutter (like peanut butter but made with sunflower seeds). It is actually pretty good – as long as it’s on a sandwich with jelly :-)

Dr S gave us the OK to start Carson on rice cereal on Friday, but suggested we wait until after the allergist appointment in case they had another idea. But the allergist said we didn’t need to do the delayed feeding schedule so we started with rice cereal on Monday night (and it just hit me that maybe that is causing Carson’s new rash? ARGH!!!). But Carson loved the food and loved grabbing at my hand with the spoon and Mallory wanted to help put the spoon in his mouth and Carson had both hands flailing so needless to say it was a big fat mess.

Rick started football so he’s not been around much this week. I’m going to the Jimmy Buffett concert with my dad tomorrow night and then the kids & I are heading up north with my mom for the weekend.
Oh, and our house is going on the market the end of this month. Neither of us could make a decision about leaving the lake but Rick finally jumped off the fence and I followed him. Please cross your fingers that we sell fast and all that other stuff.
We are looking in Dexter – both new construction and “used” homes. I’ll share floorplans of the new constructions we are looking at so stay tuned!
