Michigan kicked off their 2009 season with a big win over my alma mater on Saturday. Everyone said I was brave to take both kids to the tailgate/game. But really it’s mostly that we aren’t rich ~ I can’t imagine my babysitting tab if I had my sister watch both kids all day on a Saturday. The weather looks shady for next weekend so I might have to figure something out. We’ll see.
But – my children were, in a word, awesome. All day long. I was a little shocked. I sort of wanted them to be jerks so I had a reason to not bring them again. We got to the tailgate by 10a, Mallory started eating at 10:01a, Carson took a nap from 10:30a-12:30p, we left for the game at 2:30p, Carson took a couple of little snoozes during the game, left the game for the tailgate when there were ~10 minutes to go in the game, Mallory stopped eating at 8:03p, we left the tailgate at 8:04p, stopped to pick up Cooper, Mallory asked to have pizza for dinner at 8:48p, and she fell asleep three minutes later. The only time Mallory cried all day was in the car on the way home when she wanted her paci and I couldn’t find hers. Carson was great all day too – it was his fussiness with 10 minutes to go in the game that prompted us to leave. My back was killing me and he was getting too wiggly.
I think if there had been a food-eating contest, Mallory would have won it handily. She never DIDN’T have food in her hands.

There are two amazing things about this next picture. 1) Mallory is letting Ryan hold her; and 2) Ryan is actually smiling in a picture. (Ryan is one of Rick’s good friends and has been out of the country the past bunch of football seasons, running from the law. Just kidding. Sort of.)

wow I don’t think Em would last 2 seconds at a football game. Your kids did great! We didn’t even make it thru 1 inning of baseball this season with her! :) Great pics by the way!
