Mallory & I had a playdate a few weeks ago with my dear friend Shauna & her family. They traveled all the way from Kalamazoo to visit us for a few hours. We met at the Chelsea Treehouse – a really cool indoor playground (good thing because it was one of those yucky days we had in August) and let the kids all play. Shauna & her husband have three girls – ages 5, 3 & 1 – and of course it took Mallory about an hour to warm up to them, even though they were all over Mallory wanting to help her climb the playground.
It was pretty funny – we got there right when it opened at 10a. The staff greeted us at the entrance and made the little kids use hand sanitizer before letting them in the facility. They are “seriously nut-free”, which might be really good to know if Carson does in fact end up with a nut allergy. The staff also does circuit cleaning EVERY 15 MINUTES – going through with rags and a vacuum. Shauna & I were DYING. They had a little place for littler kids to play (will be good for Carson in a few months) and a concession stand and even wireless internet (you KNOW I’m going there when Carson is big enough to play independently!).
So, we had the place to ourselves for about 45 minutes, and then it was hysterical…it was a parade of dads coming in, newspapers tucked under one arm, heading straight to the concession stand to get their coffee, while shooing their kids off to play.
One of the best things is that your admission gives in & out privileges all day, so you can leave and eat or nap and come back later in the day. I can for sure say that we’ll be back to play there, and hopefully Shauners & her crew can meet us again!
I am pretty disappointed that I have all my scrapbooks packed up because I would love to scan & share the 1993 version of this picture. :-)
Mallory, Harper & Shiloh
Mallory was pretty shy but Harper was great with her – helping her up the treehouse all day.
Funny of the day – as I was snapping a hundred pictures to get a good one of the girls, Harper – through her pretty smile – said to her mom “she’s taking a lot of pictures”.
OH – I almost forgot – the title of post comes from our days in Kalamazoo when I worked for the K-Wings and Coach Hitchcock used to tell Shauna & me that we were “Pieces of Work”.
And now Shauna & I have our own Pieces of Work :-)
Very Cool….nothing like girlfriends!
Dude…..most excellent! The girls were thrilled they made it ‘on the computer’…..very thrilling. Oh, and I wish I looked like I did in a circa 93 or 94 pic….LOL. Love ya sistah and really love reading your blog.
