One of my favorite new games to play with Mallory is the “how do YOU say ‘Carson’?” game.
She’ll say “Cah-thun” and I’ll say “Oh, CAH-son?”. She’ll say “NO – cah-THUN!” and I say “oh, cah-SON?” and she says, “NOOOO cah-THHHHHUN!”
I love her little two-almost-three-year-old speech thingies. LOVE LOVE LOVE them.
She still says “compuderer” for computer. And “lemolade” for lemonade. And she says “skuzers” for scissors (this is slowly sounding more like scissors instead of skuzers and it makes me sad… “cramera” for camera is gone too.)
The other day at school they had a table full of big pinecones and then these little magnifying glasses for the kids to use to look at the pinecones. She asked me if I wanted to use a “fying glass” to look at the pinecones. And then I made her ask me again because it was so funny to hear her say fying glass.
And the song “do you know the muffin man”? In Mallory’s world it is actually “do you know the muffin band”. I make her sing it all the time.
ETA: I can’t forget “the mote control” for “remote control”.

Halloween is coming up and she’s been lined up to be a fairy princess with Alli…but the other day at the football game she told me she wanted to be a cheerleader. I thought that’s cool – I can return the fairy princess dress and Mallory can wear her {already exists in her closet} cheerleader dress!
Then she wanted to be a “dancing girl” – probably after seeing the dance team perform at the football game. Still not a problem. We’ll still return the fairy princess dress and figure out a dancing girl.
A few minutes later she turned to me and said she wanted to be a football player for Halloween. GREAT! We have a Michigan football player costume in the closet too. Works for me.
But then she told me she wanted to be a BAND MARCHER, as in a marcher in the band. And seeing as how I have no stinking clue how to make or obtain a Michigan Marchin.gBand costume for my two-almost-three-year-old, I told her she could be a fairy princess.
The end.
Cute! :) I love when Kids mispronounce…it’s hilar!
My Li’l Sis, who will be 11 soon…used to say “Midget” for “Pigeon” – THAT was my all-time fave! Also, “Mazagine” instead of “Magazine.” And “Woe” instead of “War.” -like the card game. A few years ago, I recorded her on video saying “WAR” …and posted it on my fb…it was THAT monumental. :)
All that to say…I love these kinds of stories! :D Love, love, love them!
I can’t (and yet I CAN) wait for our little 4mo old Josefine to start gabbing and saying hilarious stuff like that!
THANKS for sharing the funnies!

We do the same thing with pronunciation! Just this week, my 4 y/o and I were talking about letters. I’d say a letter, and she’d say a word that started with it. All was well until F. She said, “Fumb” What’s that? “Fumb. Like Fumbs up.” Ah, thumb. I tried to explain that it began with a T. “Mom, you’re so silly, I can’t believe I know my letters more than you.” *sigh*
Good luck with the Halloween costumes! My SIL is a Michigan alum, and that’s the team I root for…
