Well – first off – happy belated thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a great weekend surrounded by family & friends.
And now I’ll go into detail for why I haven’t posted in a week.
I started to feel sick a week ago (the day after the OSU game) – and felt progressively worse as the week went along. If I hadn’t already burned up six sick days (of the 15 I get starting October 1), I totally would have stayed home at least one day last week. But it just felt like a horrible head cold and I feel guilty if I stay home so I sucked it up and went to work. I ended up at the doctor Wednesday afternoon and left with a big prescription for cough medicine with codeine, which is supposedly safe for a breastfeeding mama. But it made me feel yucky, and made Carson feel even yuckier so I only took two doses and I switched to cough drops instead. My cold feels gone but I still have some junk in my chest and am prone to some pretty bad coughing fits but overall I feel way better. Thanks for asking.
We picked out a Christmas tree on Wednesday before Thanksgiving too. We’d gone to check some out on Tuesday but we weren’t impressed so put it off a day. So when we finally went on Wednesday, Mallory was beside herself about us getting a tree. I told the guy at the tree place that Mallory was “dying” to get a tree. Apparently the tree guy thought she was really dying – and I thought he was just being extra friendly because Mallory is so cute. But as we were leaving, he came up to Rick and asked what was wrong with our little girl. So Rick had to explain that his wife is a moron and that our daughter isn’t really dying, but was just really excited about getting a tree today.
Thanksgiving dinner was at Emily & Mike’s. My doctor had told me to not go for dinner and just rest but Thanksgiving is my favorite meal of the entire year so there was no way I was going to miss turkey. I was in bed at 7p on Thursday night and slept until 6.30a on Friday morning!
The rest of my weekend was spent taking about 600 pictures of five different families. So all of my spare time has been spent sorting through pictures and more pictures. I always hate the pictures I take right after I take them, so I usually have to pace myself as I edit. And my sister is having me do her Christmas cards, and I have my own cards to create (and have to find the perfect picture of my children; we’ve already had two photo sessions in the hopes of getting what I want but it’s getting harder and harder to get posed pictures of Mallory without her either worrying about Carson or giving us a cheesy smile).
What Carson is up to Carson’s working on six new teeth the past couple of weeks. Three of them are through but the other three are still causing problems. This, combined with him not feeling well, made him pretty grumpy and that little *^#$!@-^%*&@# BIT me THREE TIMES on Thanksgiving day. And to clarify, I’m still breastfeeding. In case you are wondering why I am so upset about Carson biting me.
He’s crawling like a crazy man and can finally get himself into a sitting position from crawling. Sweet baby boy is also pulling himself up on anything that will stay still long enough. Bath times have gotten super insane – he used to sit nicely and splash but now he’s crawling from one end to the other so he can sit up, try to pull up, fall over and then crawl to the other end of the tub to try again.
What Mallory is up to The stuff that comes out of her mouth is beyond hysterical. “Does that sound like a good deal?” is a new favorite. And Rick was helping her do her princess puzzle (that she can do all by herself, so it’s pretty funny to watch her “let” Rick help her) – Rick got a couple of pieces put in the right spots and Mallory said “GOOD JOB, DAD!!!”. Then if she is trying to tell us how the day is going to go, she always says “Awe-white” (alright). For instance, MCB says “I am going to go potty, and then I am going to wash my hands, awe-white? And then I will put my clothes on, awe-white? AWE-WHITE???”
She continues to want to be all up in Carson’s business. She wants to help him sit and stand up and isn’t always the gentlest with him. But he has the ultimate revenge – and it involves handfuls of blond curls. :-)
I have lots of pictures of my kids from this past weekend but all of them are possible Christmas card pictures so I can’t share them yet ;-) How’s that for teasing?
Mallory is finally in bed so I am off to look at pictures. G’night!
