Highlights of Mallory’s 3-yr appointment

Mallory had her 3-yr well-child appointment yesterday, since she just turned three (OH MY GOD I HAVE A THREE YEAR OLD?). Here are the stats from her appointment.

  • She is 39lbs (95%) and 39” (77%). The nurse commented “she should be square!”.
  • She got to wear the little gown that opens in the back for her appointment. I told her she didn’t have to take off her undies or her socks but she insisted on taking off her socks. Whatever.
  • I can’t get over what a little person she looked like sitting up on the table in her little gown that opens in the back.
  • This was the first time Mallory had her blood pressure taken at a doctors appointment. Have you ever seen the cute little kid blood pressure cuffs? So cute.
  • The doctor asked Mallory if she was a boy or a girl, and if Mommy was a boy or a girl (luckily she got them both right). Then the doctor asked Mallory if there were any boys at our house. Mallory answered “Yes. Cooper. And Carson. And Daddy!”.  The doctor looked at me sort of funny until I explained that Cooper is the dog.
  • Her umbilical hernia has resolved itself so no surgery for that (wahoo!). One of her tubes is falling out but is still in the ear canal and the other tube is still in place. I guess we have to be aware that ear infections are a possibility again.
  • She is reaching and exceeding all of her other milestones. Doctor said not to worry about her problems with “R” and “S” yet – that those are sounds that aren’t perfected until 5 or 6.
  • No shots at the 3-yr appointment (yeah!) and she was able to get the H1N1* flu mist vaccine (double yeah!). They even let me retrieve Carson from daycare and gave him the H1N1 shot (triple yeah!).
  • This has nothing to do with Mallory’s appointment but I am listening to Christmas music right now.

That’s all I’ve got for now. Lunch/pumptime is over. Thank goodness for my hands free nursing bustier!

*H1N1 – aka the Swine Flu – a crazy version of the flu that is causing deaths around the country right now. Lots of drama about whether to vaccinate against it or not and there are HUGE shortages of the vaccine and people freaking out about trying to get the vaccine. I wasn’t going to go crazy out of my way to get it for either kid, but was happy that we were able to take care of it so effortlessly.
