We had plans set up for a visit to Santa on Saturday. Mallory’s friend’s grandpa has a Santa outfit and we were going to go see him – I figured we’d get our Santa picture then because I expected Mallory to not want anything to do with Santa. But because we told her Alli’s grandpa is just one of Santa’s helpers, I wanted to see how she did with a “real” Santa.
So when I picked the kids up from daycare today, I told Mallory we were going to see Santa. She screeched and started yelling to all of her friends at school that she was going to see Santa.
The entire trip to the mall was spent talking about where Santa lives (the North Pole) and where he is right now (the mall) and if we were going to the North Pole (no, we are going to the mall) and where is “ga mall”. At the last stop light before pulling into the mall, Mallory said “HURRY UP I WANT TO SEE SANTA!”. I told her to settle down because I was at a red light.
I asked Mallory what she was going to ask Santa for and she told me “a polka-dot camera” (surprise, surprise). I asked Mallory if she would tell Santa what I wanted. She asked me what I wanted, and I told her “a 50D (camera)”.
Mallory asked me if I wanted a “polka-dot 50D”.
She skipped through the mall, sooooo excited to see Santa.
She had no problem talking to him – as long as she stayed ~5 ft away.
So Carson got his picture taken with Santa.
Then Santa tricked Mallory into giving him a hug and he pulled her up on his lap.
And then we quick threw Carson into the picture:
I have to say that being a parent with a young child makes Christmas a ton more fun. I don’t know who was more excited about seeing Santa – Rick & me or the kids.
PS Yes, I’m aware that Carson looks like a fullback in these pictures.
That picture of her hugging Santa is one of the most ‘awe’-evoking pictures that i have ever seen, especially with the preceding story.
Now I want to go to the mall, do they let ‘older’ kids sit on Santa’s lap?
Very cute! I’m very impressed with Santa’s trickery! And the curls still rock :-)
