Carson enjoying his gift from Santa
Mallory JUST noticed her gift hanging on the tree
So excited about her new camera
“CARSON! Look at my new polka-dot camera!”
Playing with Carson’s new trucks
Christmas was so much fun this year. Mallory really got into it. We did the whole “Elf on a Shelf” thing – she named ours “Arlo the Elf” and every day Arlo would watch Mallory and then at nighttime he would fly back to Santa to report how Mallory did, but he’d always come back in the morning before Mallory woke up. She always got excited every morning to find out where the Elf was hiding that day and Rick was constantly amazed at how easily she would be able to find where he’d hidden him (Mallory would tell Rick “I’m a good finder”). And like most parents of preschoolers – we *totally* overused the whole “you better be good – Santa and/or Arlo the Elf is watching!”.
Mallory got her camera and a jump rope. and some clothes and a bunch of princess and Fancy Nancy stuff. I got an all-organized trip to NYC to see Chicago and a sweet new camera bag. I also got lots of new picture frames! I’m anxious to go pick out my faves to finally post on my walls. For all the pictures I take, I don’t have a single photo of Carson on display in my house. But that isn’t just second-child syndrome – I don’t think we had pictures of Mallory out for a while either.
I’m already removing ornaments off of the tree; our living room is small enough without a 6.5’ Fraser Fir taking up residence in the corner. I feel like a scrooge so maybe Scrooge had a really small living room too.
Now that the holidays are over, I hope to get back more into a regular blogging routine again. Happy Holidays!
