Well, Dammit Jim.
Mallory’s impending move to the preschool room at daycare means that they are making her nap without her pacifier at school. They say she’s doing well without it at school so Princess Not-So-Bright (again, that’s me) thought we should try to drop it at home since she only uses it for bedtime & naptime.
I figured last Thursday night was a good night to start this. You know, the Thursday that was four weeks after Carson was born. Also, the Thursday that was three days after Mallory was diagnosed with a sinus infection.
Well, the first night was rough. It …

Carson – one whole month
Sweet Baby Carson is already a month old. I wonder how long I’ll start his update posts with “I can’t believe he’s (so big) already!”?
The big news of this week is that poor Carson got circumcised on Friday. My sister sees many circumcision revisions at work so she got me set up with her fave urologist to do Carson’s circ. Rick came with us but didn’t come back into the room. I was in the room but couldn’t watch most of it. Carson only cried when he got the numbing shot at the beginning and then he peed twice EVERYWHERE …
I’d like…
No, this isn’t a post about what I’d like to do, which could include (in no particular order) drinking a couple of Ultimate Margaritas at Fridays, or getting a nice massage, or running away to a deserted island (as long as my iPhone still worked), etc.
This is a post about Mallory & her manners.
Whenever she wants something, she says “I’d like…” before it. So if she wants to mooch some of my granola bar, it isn’t “give me some of that, mom”, it’s either “I’d like some of that granola bar” or “I’d like to share that with …
Accident-Free
Tuesday, April 28 was a 100% big-girl underpants day for Mallory! She woke up in a dry diaper, and wore big girl underpants all day at school and then didn’t have any accidents when we got home from school (usually this is where the day falls apart, because I am too busy to remind her to go potty). And she woke up with a dry diaper again this morning.
Now we just have to work on her going poop on the potty.
Funniest Kid Ever
Mallory.
Mallory, Mallory, Mallory.
While she can make me want to run screaming to the loony bin sometimes (or at least to the grocery store at 8p last night just to get some peace from two crying kids…don’t worry, Rick was home), other times she can be unbelievably hysterical.
Like this morning.
Rick was in the shower and the other three of us (Mal, Carson & I) were still in bed. Carson was starting to fuss so I told Mallory I needed to feed him but then I checked his diaper and realized he needed changed but figured I’d feed …
Size 1
This just popped in my head and I need to record it for Carson’s baby book :-)
The bassinet thingy in the hospital room was stocked with diapers and wipes and little side snap shirts and the nose sucker thingy and some other stuff. The default diaper size they stock are Newborn size, which goes up to 10lbs.
After Carson was born, the nurse had to go track down a package of size 1 diapers for Tank. She said she just grabbed the whole package because there were only three packages of size 1 diapers on the whole maternity floor.
For some reason …
Mommy’s Helper
Mallory gave Carson a bottle this morning (Carson & Rick slept in and I had just pumped when they woke up…). Mals thought she was a pretty cool big sister feeding her little brother!
A day in the life – Mallory-style
I have to share some pictures. I was cracking up when I checked out the snapshots from today.
Getting ready to go for the first boat ride of the season:
Slalom skiing on the Wii after going to a baby shower with mom:
What happens at 5p when she doesn’t get her noon nap (because she went to a baby shower with mom):
I’m feeling hot-hot-hot
It was HOT today. I must be getting old because I couldn’t stand to be out in the heat and sun for more than a few minutes.
Emily brought her kids out today to visit – she wanted her dog to go swimming. Well, her dog had NO interest in swimming (talk about a defective Labrador) but all the kids got wet. I thought I was so cool getting a picture of all of the cousins and then I remembered that one of my kids wasn’t in the picture. Oops.
My kid is CRAZY – this water was …
Carson at 3 weeks
Three weeks already? Only three weeks of maternity leave left? Oh man.
Here is the Carson update:
He was 11lbs and 22.5” inches long on Tuesday (2w5d old).
He is staying awake for longer stretches of time. I don’t think this is a great thing just yet.
We have yet to find a gadget that he likes – he isn’t a big fan of the swing or the bouncy seat and seems to only like to fall asleep while being held. So I have to hold him until he falls asleep and then try to transfer him to his bassinet.
He …
