My whole family, except Carson, slept in today so Carson & I had some fun playing time by the early light of day. Watch as he tries to copy what I’m doing.
I have decided that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this age of almost 6 months. Carson is able to sit up, roll all over the place and semi-scoot his way around – which means he is able to entertain himself for a good amount of time. Yesterday at the tailgate, he hung out on the blanket alone for at least 15 minutes, just watching people walk by and playing …

Mallory on Film
I got her hooked on rhyming by singing the Name Game with her. Then she proceeded to rhyme EVERYTHING for a couple of weeks. I think we’re over it now, but here she is singing the song a couple weeks ago.
And – in case you needed to know how to spell Mallory…
From the mouth of Mallory
“Cooper needs a barrette because he’s going to be a golf player”
“I am going to take your picture – say ‘stinky diapers!’”
“You tell me ‘stop doing that, Mallory’” (like when she’s playing with something or doing something she knows she isn’t supposed to, like taking the roll of toilet paper off the holder, just for the heck of it).
STB: “Ooh – you washed your hands! They smell like GRAPE!”
MCB: “No they don’t. They smell like octopuses. Do you like octopuses?”
Out for a walk last week – she asked me to hold her “leafses” (leaves)
We were playing today and she told …
A bathtime before & after
Ever since we started Carson on solids, he immediately goes into the tub after dinner (we usually can’t get away with not doing bathtime every night). He still insists on trying to shove the spoon in his mouth but I’m getting back in the groove and my speed is improving so I am getting better at avoiding his grasp. But he always still ends up with some sort of food leftover on his face.
I just started having him sit up in the tub and so far he’s only fallen once.
Here is the happy bather with carrots on his face…
And here …
Sam I Am 52:3
This week’s installment of “Sam I Am” (a yearlong photo story of your hostess, me) was from the game yesterday.
* * *
My kids were a little grumpier this week at the game. The past two weeks it was a 3:30p game and Mallory just tailgated her way through her regular naptime and all was good. This weekend was a noon game and Mallory started to meltdown around normal naptime so I had to hold her while she napped. That sucked. Lauren wanted to come to the game this week again and when I told Mallory that Lauren wanted to …
Swingin’ Siblings
I am beyond happy that Carson is finally big enough to fit in his outside swing – now I can sit back and let Mallory push him and not worry about him falling out. I’m still in the backyard while she’s pushing him, but I am able to do dog poop cleanup or get the mail real quick while they play.
I think this is one of my new favorite photos
With Carson’s ever increasing mobility, I’m finding that I have to mediate and redirect Mallory more & more. When Carson used to just chill in the …
Give me some lovin’
I’ve noticed a lot of new traffic on my blog.
I would love if people could come out of lurktown and just leave a quick hello in the comments.
I know I’m guilty of viewing blogs and never saying hello so I promise to take my own advice and start leaving more comments on other blogs too!
Merci ;-)

Big Horse Mountain
With a lot of her toys packed up so we can keep our house clean and tidy for all the people who aren’t coming to look at it to buy it, Mallory is down to only a few toys (but don’t let her fool you – she still has plenty).
But now that she has fewer to choose from, she has taken a huge interest in her art easel and loves to draw on it. She will color and color almost all day. It’s been interesting to see her talent develop from simple scribbles, to more deliberate shapes. We went to …
