I think that with our trip I forgot to post Carson’s stats from his 9-mo appointment.
He’s 21.54lbs (66%), and 29.61” (88%).
Other things worth mentioning about my nine-month old baby boy:
- He is still exclusively on breastmilk. My supply is more than keeping up with him (sorry if that is too much information, dad) and we have a freezer full of frozen milk that we’ll probably end up donating in April.
- He loves to eat. He eats whatever we eat at dinner, and enjoys veggie burgers and grilled cheese and leftovers for lunch. His teachers report that sometimes they only try to give him half of his lunch because they don’t think he will be able to eat it all, but when he sees the other half of his grilled cheese, he starts freaking out and reaching for it until his teacher cuts it up and lets him have it.
- He’s still up ~4a almost every morning. I think this is less about needing to eat than it is him needing a diaper or a paci, but it’s easiest for Rick to bring him to me to nurse so that’s what happens. I still don’t really have a problem with it since I think it’s contributing to my supply being so good.
- He is a crawling machine and loves to pull up on anything. He can stand by himself for a couple of seconds but he doesn’t seem too excited about practicing that skill. One day when I picked him up at school, his teacher had him standing up and was trying to get him to walk to me – so I reached my hands out, thinking he’d reach for me and start walking holding on to my hands, but instead he grabbed my hands and shoved them under his armpits so I could pick him up.
- His crawl is morphing into a half-crawl-half-crab-walk, where he travels on one knee and one foot some of the time. And sometimes if he is on terrain where it hurts his knees to crawl, he gets up on all fours.
- He is starting to get very verbal. Mostly when we hand him the phone because my mom wants to “talk” to him. Then he starts grunting (like his dad) like crazy. But just the past couple of weeks, it has turned more into a constant stream of babbling.
- Hang out at our house at dinner time and you’ll see all three of us trying to get Carson to say our name first. Poor kid is peppered with “Say MAMA!” and “SAY DADDY!” and “SAY MALLORY SAY MALLORY SAY MALLORY!!!” nonstop. Rick & Mallory should just accept that I’m going to win. Or at least I better.
- Yes, it’s technically almost his 10-mo birthday, but I’m happy to report that tooth #8 is popping through. No more lopsided bottom teeth :-)
