Holy cow – my baby is going to have his first birthday in less than two months. OHMYGOD!OHMYGOD!OHMYGOD!
Sweet baby Carson is still so much fun. He smiles ALL THE TIME (except when battling an ear infection…read on for more on that) and his big sister can ALWAYS get him to laugh. Mallory has all sorts of goofy tricks up her sleeves, ranging from peek-a-boo to silly faces. His little giggles make my day, I just love it.
Carson has taken a few little tiny baby steps all by himself and would probably take more except every time he does take a step, I start squealing like a crazy lady and jump up and down – so I probably scare him half to death and if that’s the case, he won’t walk for me for a long time just to avoid having his mom go nuts. He’s also becoming so verbal – lots of “mama”, which of course I just LOVE. And my mom & sister told me they think he’s trying to say “Mallory” sometimes; I’ve got to start listening for that.
About his ears – we’re in the middle of our third round of antibiotics in less than six weeks. So because of Mallory’s history, we have Carson signed up to get tubes next month. We love our ENT doctor (Dr Possum Hunter) and hope that Aunt Emily will be on duty to knock Carson out. It is pretty amazing that every time he seems grumpy the past two months and we take him to the doctor, he is in the midst of an ear infection. I don’t remember Mallory’s being that obvious – she never acted grumpy with her ear infections (she must have been saving it all up for when she turned three). Her first ear infection was diagnosed at her one-year well-child visit and because we were flying at Christmas and then the big Guam trip in January, I kept getting them checked whenever she got a cold, and she always had fluid and infections so we did the tubes for her when she was ~16 mos old.
I have more to write but can’t remember anything right now. Plus I have to finish a 3-weeks in the making post about some recent “Mallory-isms”.
Au revoir.
