Holy cow – my baby is going to have his first birthday in less than two months. OHMYGOD!OHMYGOD!OHMYGOD!
Sweet baby Carson is still so much fun. He smiles ALL THE TIME (except when battling an ear infection…read on for more on that) and his big sister can ALWAYS get him to laugh. Mallory has all sorts of goofy tricks up her sleeves, ranging from peek-a-boo to silly faces. His little giggles make my day, I just love it.
Carson has taken a few little tiny baby steps all by himself and would probably take more except every time he does take a …

Dashing through the snow…
You knew these were coming – what with all the snow we got last week. We took to the hill in the woods by our house. Cooper had a blast being crazy snow dog – it’s so funny to watch him go nuts in the deep snow, because his front legs get buried and he ends up doing a flip. Probably need to make sure gets an anti-inflammatory today.
Mallory trying to bury herself:
Carson wasn’t a big fan of the snow:
Carson sort of liked riding down the hill:
A flash of me being a fun mom:
And then Mallory rode down the …
I’m still here
Hi.
Yes, it’s been a while.
But I’m still here.
It’s been a crazy week.
First – the Super Bowl – asked Mallory if she wanted to watch football and she told us “NO – I only like the tailgates”.
Then Rick & I headed to New York City for my Christmas present getaway. The trip was fun and not so fun.
Tuesday was fun – walked around the city, went to a taping of the David Letterman Show, had dinner, saw Chicago on Broadway, and stayed up way too late, even though we were kidless.
Wednesday was not so fun. NYC was under a winter weather …
My Ballerina
I’ve found Mallory practicing her ballet positions a lot lately. She hardly ever will do them when I ask her to, so imagine my surprise when she actually let me photograph her.
How cute are her little pointed toes ?
Aunt Marion
My great Aunt Marion’s birthday was yesterday; she would have been 105! She passed away almost seven years ago and my dad reminded me of a funny story about her (it’s near the end of this post).
My dad’s mother died when he was 12 or 13, and his mom’s oldest sister (Aunt Marion) basically raised him. My grandfather remarried when my dad was in high school but Aunt Marion always had a very special place in my dad’s heart. She lived on her own until she was almost 95 years old. She’d never learned to drive but she was …
Just for me
Breastfeeding and nursing and pumping are all discussed in this post. Not in a gross way. This is your warning – feel free to not comment (mom & dad) about how you can’t believe I wrote a whole post about this AND posted pictures.

Tank is now 10 months old. I can’t believe it’s gone so fast. I know I’ve said this like every single month, but I could just freeze him at this age and it would be fabulous.
One thing that makes me sad is thinking about the end of breastfeeding. …
A Little Fish in a Big Pond
Our sweet little girl is growing up way too fast.
Mallory has always loved swim class – I think she mostly liked the 30 minutes of one-on-one play time with Rick (and sometimes me) during our parent-tot class. But at the end of the last session, the teacher said Mallory should move up to the preschool class. “But she’s just barely THREE!” I told the teacher. She assured me she’d do fine.
Tonight was the first night of Mallory being in the pool without us. I was pretty sure it wouldn’t go so well and we’d end up with both …
