Carson, Mallory

What they’re up to…

Mallory’s latest “things”:

  • Mallory. Mallory Mallory Mallory. She continues to be awesome and fun and smart and sassy and bratty and silly and loveable and oh so three.
  • She’s been able to count forever, but just this week she’s started to count on her fingers. Who’d have thought that flipping up one finger at a time could be so difficult. It’s so funny.
  • She’s been working on her letters – BIG TIME. She is constantly spelling her name, and Carson’s name and Mom and Dad. She’s started to identify letters on signs as we’re driving, and tonight she got grumpy because she could find a M, A, two Ls, O, and an R, but she couldn’t find a Y on my can of beer. Take it up with Mr. Labatt, sweetie.
  • She likes to type on the keyboard – and can type all of our names and will type anything else as long as we spell it out for her. I ended up just writing them all down on a paper so she could do it herself.
  • She is also getting good at telling us what letter something starts with if we make the sound for her. Like this week they are working on the letter P at school, and she told me that Pancakes and Piggies both start with P. I threw a couple of other P words at her and she rocked it!
  • She talks about when she was a “lil pumkin”.
  • One thing that isn’t new is her OBSESSION with her little brother. She continues to be unable to keep her hands to herself. I caught her CARRYING HIM DOWN THE STAIRS the other day. I almost threw up I was so nervous.

Carson’s latest “things”:

  • You saw the video already of him starting to walk – he seems to like to walk in private. If you are egging him on and trying to encourage him, he immediately falls to his bottom and crawls.
  • I have to post the video of him waving. He moves his WHOLE arm like he’s doing half of a breakdancing move.
  • Tooth #11 has made an appearance and #12 is *rightthere*. He’s got a huge red bulge in his gum on the lower right side, poor baby.
  • He still only says mamamamamama. But he’s making some other noises so we’ll see what those turn into.
  • I was reading somewhere that by age 12mos, he should be able to recognize at least two “commands”. I started freaking out until I remembered that he will crawl/walk towards me if I ask him to, and he also knows “on your bottom” in the bathtub. Phew.
  • If you start to play peekaboo with him, he’ll continue it by putting his hands over his face, usually when he has his bear blankie in his hands. And then he drops his hands/blankie and flashes that killer smile and ohmygosh my heart turns to mush.

That’s all for now!
