You are getting a bulleted post today because I can’t formulate real writing right now. Must be my age.
- Carson is almost totally weaned. I am amazed that I made it a year. He’s nursing once or twice a day now and this morning was the first time in a month or so that he came to our bed early in the morning to nurse. It was very sweet. And then this afternoon he was getting fussy and I turned around to see him crawling towards me, dragging my nursing cape behind him. Yeah, that was really great for the mom guilt I’m already dealing with.
- I’m starting to get better at reading his cues – if he starts hitting my face, I put him in his crib and he falls asleep in an instant. Apparently hitting me = being really tired.
- Carson is totally mobile. He walks ALL OF THE TIME. Back & forth through the house, and he’s usually dragging his nerf golf club. He’s getting less wobbly every day.
- Mallory is working on some sort of yucky cough, and after she coughed yesterday, Rick said “excuse you!”. Mallory corrected him and said “no, when we cough, we say “ex-cough-you”. The other funny part is that I’ve been saying “ex-cough-you” to her ever since, and each time she responds sweetly, “thank you!”
- Mals likes to answer for Carson. For example, she is playing with one of Carson’s new toys and I remind her that it is Carson’s new toy and she should let him play with it. She’ll tell me “Well, Carson said I could play with it. Right Carson? Yes? (as she is nodding his head for him with her hands) See Mom, Carson said yes.”
- The two of them are so funny in the car. Mallory makes him hold hands with her and then they play a game of looking at each other: one turns toward the window, and then the other does, and then they take turns being the first to look back at the other one. I have video to share of her singing to him.
- OH – before I forget – Mallory got a little toy from my mom for Easter and it is an Easter bunny who makes all different faces. One of them is winking so we have been winking at Mallory trying to get her to do it. Well, she started to say “see the inking one?” and it took us a few to realize what the hell she was talking about: the WINKING one.
- Carson has his one-year checkup tomorrow (OH MY GOD MY BABY ISN’T A BABY ANYMORE) so I’ll do a big Carson is 1 update after that.
And, just because I’m a good sharer, here are some more pictures:
Mallory getting annoyed because I keep taking her picture:
This one cracks me up. I asked her how old she was so she held up three fingers. As she was holding them up, she realized “oooh, look at my pretty nail polish!” (I’d just painted her toes & fingernails). Then the third picture it’s like she’s checking to make sure she still has polish on her toes. I can’t stand it.
We had gorgeous weather this weekend and Mallory & Rick checked out the lake with Cooper. This crazy girl actually put her toes in the water!
Watching Cooper swim
I am hoping Carson’s recent obsession with the golf club will lead to a scholarship…
And lastly – what is cuter than little boy toes in the grass? He was a little unsure of the feel of the grass under his feet but it only took him a few seconds to start walking all over the place.
Great post with lots o’ funny stuff, as always. Still laughing out loud at Mallory’s “ex-cough you”. OMG…SOOO funny!
