I promise I do spend time with my kids, I just don’t have a lot of time to write about it, apparently.
Let’s see.
So, Carson is taking advantage of his mobility and cuteness and now stands and begs while Rick cuts up fruit for breakfasts & lunches every morning. He semi-stomps his feet until he gets my attention so I can tell Rick to notice the little hungry person next to him (since you know Captain Oblivious won’t see him himself).
Carson also loves to do high-five and will *sometimes* show us how big he is. Dinnertime is hysterical – I usually start to talk to Carson to get him to do a trick and then Rick & Mallory chime in and next thing you know Carson’s head is spinning from over-stimulation.
Mallory is still doing dance once a week (her recital is in a month!) and then also rock-climbing. She ended up not being a fan of swim class once the teacher started trying to make her put her face underwater. We’re, or rather I’m trying to decide if we do dance this summer or take the summer off. We got to class extra early yesterday and she got to see a girl tap-dancing…and now she’s interested in the fancy tapping shoes.
That girl of mine still can’t get enough of spinny dresses. She requests to wear one EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. And she gets so excited when she realizes it’s warm out and she doesn’t need to wear a sweater or a jacket. She will probably move south first chance she gets.
Also, our old routine when I got to school for pickup was to go get Mallory and then we’d go get Carson together, because she can’t stand not being with him. But now when I come out to the big kid playground to pick her up, she tells me to go get Cah-thon first, because apparently she is much too busy to be bothered with visiting the infant room anymore. But now that Carson is walking, he gets to go out on the toddler playground, and Mallory reports that every day. The other day one of the teachers said that Mallory brought every single one of her friends over to the gate to watch Carson play, like he’s a zoo exhibit. I hope he didn’t disappoint.
Rick is gearing up for his third triathlon (get it? gearing up? because he has to ride a bike?!) and we’re making a family trip out of it. But more about that later.
