FINALLY! The rest of the writeup from our trip to Florida in May!
One of the good things about waiting three months to write about a vacation is that I’ve forgotten stuff so I now I don’t have to write so much!
Anywho…
Monday morning was breakfast with the princesses at Epcot. Mallory was giddy as the princesses started coming through the room but was beyond shy when they came to our table. Carson wasn’t shy – he kept shoving food in his mouth the whole time. It was awesome though – because all of the princesses spoke just as you would think they would in real life, and they kept calling Mallory “princess”. The best was Ariel – she was FANTASTIC – she even noticed Mallory’s little {fake} pearl bracelet (that was part of her Ariel pajamas that she got from her Papa & Nina)!
We spent most of that day at Epcot – taking turns riding rides, which really meant that everyone but me & the kids would go on cool rides while I took the kids on the Finding Nemo ride a hundred times, and then we’d use the rider switch pass so I could go on the cool ride.
Oh – I need to tell about Mallory and the Test Track ride at Epcot!
At her 3-yr doctor’s appointment in November, she was 40”, and you have to be 40” to ride the Test Track ride, but when I took her up to the measuring stick thing, the dude said she was too short – ARGH! Rick & everyone else had already gone on the ride so there I was, with Mallory SCREAMING & CRYING that she couldn’t go on the ride. My dad tried to distract her with a ride on his scooter but she was still so mad. Rick’s sister & I jumped in line and as we were about to get on the ride, Nancy’s phone rang – it was Rick telling us that they let Mallory on the ride. Nancy & I went on the ride, and as luck would have it, Rick & Mallory were next in line to get in the car we were exiting! Rick threw the camcorder at me and Mallory yelled “SEE! DADDY LETS ME RIDE THIS RIDE!”.
Outstanding. She thinks it’s my fault she couldn’t go on it the first time.
Next up was Finding Nemo a hundred times. And the line thing at Nemo isn’t one of those regular chain zig-zag thing that they can make shorter if there isn’t anyone in line. It’s fake driftwood so you have to walk two miles to get on the actual ride. There were NO PEOPLE IN LINE so after the second time, I asked the girl if we could just not get off and go again. She said no. Blah.
We did do a character meet & greet – so Mallory & Shane got their picture taken with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Daisy. Mallory got the hugest kick out of the characters who had to put the autograph book on their noses to sign it.
I don’t remember the rest of Epcot – I think we headed over to Magic Kingdom later that evening to check out the fireworks, but then bailed as fireworks started because I realized I didn’t want to be stuck in that traffic.
Day 2 at Magic Kingdom – started with breakfast at Cinderella’s castle – complete with wishing stars and magic wands! And because I’m writing this about 8 months after the fact, I can’t remember anything else. Argh.
But here are a whole ton of pictures. Eventually I will add captions to these. But here you go.
