With Mallory getting older – and “getting it” more – events like Halloween are more fun. The excitement about her costume and candy and trick or treating has been building for weeks (not to mention that Halloween was a milestone we had to reach before it could be her BIRTHDAY).
We talked my mom into coming out to hand out candy at our house so that Rick & I could both take the kids. Alli & her folks came along, and Lauren joined us too.
The weather was chilly – but sunny – but I don’t think the kids cared. Luckily Carson was distracted enough with all the kids running around that he kept his hood and barrel on. Mallory had a few more layers than Minnie Mouse usually wears – and we heard about it “But Minnie Mouse doesn’t have tights! She doesn’t have a shirt on under her dress!”
Carson was usually a few houses behind the running girls…
This was TORTURE for Mallory – she was freaking out that Lauren & Alli got ahead of her…
Once we made the loop through the neighborhood, there was still time before official trick or treat hours ended and the girls had a great time handing out candy from our porch. As soon as they saw someone come close, the three of them would race to meet the trick or treater out at the sidewalk to give them candy. It was pretty funny.
I realized at the end of the night that I didn’t have a picture of just Mallory and this is what I ended up with. We may have to have a re-do session tomorrow just to get a good one of her.
Next up? Mallory’s birthday. Four years ago RIGHT.NOW. I was grumpy that I was a day past my due date…and still pregnant. Hmmm, imagine that. Me grumpy.
Sam, Keep the one you have of Mallory at the end of the event. This is the real life pic that you will treasure and remember taking them trick or treating….
And, no you are never grumpy
