An Impromptu Interview

November 25, 2010

Mallory got a notebook out tonight and started asking me a bunch of questions while she wrote (scribbled) my answers down on paper.
Then I got the book and had to interview her.
Here are her answers (I scanned this because she told me to make a copy and put it on facebook).

Here are the questions (with answers):

What is your name: Mallory
How old are you: 4
What are your favorite colors:  pink & red
What is your favorite team: Michigan
What are your favorite sports to watch: football and hockey
Who is your favorite hockey player: Mom

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 25, 2010

Just a quick post and run today on Thanksgiving – I’m actually hosting this year so I should probably not park myself in front of the computer all day!
Michigan has a game this weekend (first time in a long time that they’ve had a game Thanksgiving weekend) and it bums me out because this was always our first weekend to have Rick all to ourselves since football starts in August. But this year – not only do they have a game, it’s an away game, so after practice today (yes, there is practice on Thanksgiving, it’s ohio state week, for …

Thunderstorms and scary stories

November 21, 2010

I know I might portray my kids as being sunshine and fairy tales all day every day. Truth be told, they get along pretty well most of the time.
So when this happened today, my first response was that I needed to take a picture so that I could document my kids fighting.
I think it started because Carson wanted to sit on the little bench, and then Mallory decided she wanted to too, and then Carson decided he did NOT want his sister to sit next to him, because then Mallory started hollering “CARSON ISN’T SHARING”. (These pictures aren’t great because …

A Pair in a Chair

November 18, 2010

Mallory LOVES to be Carson’s big sister. If she could, she would tend his every need but instead she just tries to tend to almost every need.
For example – the other night Rick was getting Carson ready for bed, and I overheard Mallory telling him “Ca-thun (Carson) needs socks with those jammies” and after telling Rick to do something (I didn’t hear what she said), she followed up with “that’s what mommy does…”
No surprise she wants to read him a book at bedtime. Ca-thun looks less than enthused at Mallory’s rendition of his favorite book (“There’s a WOCKET in my …

Julia the Fish

November 18, 2010

Just a quick picture of Mallory’s birthday fish.
It’s a male betta fish – they are supposedly clean (ie I don’t need to clean the tank every week) and low maintenance (ie I don’t need to clean the tank every other week).
This is actually Julia #2. Julia #1 had some “buoyancy problems” (ie the fish liked to only hang out at the top of the tank) so we returned Julia #1. I was afraid this would be semi-traumatic for Mallory but she rolled with it no problem. I was also afraid of the new fish’s name, because I think Julia is …

Moo Baa La-la-la

November 15, 2010

This book was one of Mallory’s favorites (remember, she used to say pigs said “la-la-la”!) and now Carson loves it too. These pictures of Carson reading to himself are from November.

I mean honestly. Isn’t he the CUTEST?

Empty threat (I hope)

November 14, 2010

Mallory, mid-meltdown Friday night: “If you don’t let me sit on your lap I’m not going to play with you for 90 weeks.”

Shhhhhh

November 13, 2010

Just rescued the C-dog from his crib and have him on my chest trying to sleep.
But every three minutes he pushes up and says “yabba dabba doo!” (or something) and points at Mallory with a smile behind his paci.
Mallory needs to sleep until like 11a to recover from how grumpy she was last night. I guess I get to wake up for the day and take my noisemaker downstairs.
Go BLUE!!

Jailbirds

November 10, 2010

Back when I posted the second picture on this post, I realized that I needed to get one of all four of us in our blue & white striped shirts/dresses/onsies.
It took me until November to get the picture taken (how dumb was it for me to wait until it was freezing out to take a picture of us in our short sleeves, etc), but I present to you three generations of blue & white stripes.

Tate is Late

November 10, 2010

This morning while getting M & C ready for school, I asked Rick if backup quarterback Tate Forcier’s attitude had improved (during/after the first game of the season, when he wasn’t named the starter, there were rumblings that he was going to transfer, etc).
Mallory (from her perch on the potty): “Why does Tate always go in late?”
Tate has made an appearance in every game this season.
Rick: “Because Denard gets hurt.”
MCB: “Every time?”
Rick: “Yep.”
MCB: “Oh. Or they could put Devin in!”
* * *
Mallory is obviously very enamored with our quarterbacks, and tells Rick that we have THREE quarterbacks (since he …
