A Sad Light

I love the kids’ daycare. I think I’ve said that before. But really I do. I love the arts & crafts that they do, because it means I don’t need to be super creative at home. I love that they get outside twice a day (weather permitting), because it means I don’t have to be super motivated to do it when it’s cold & dark in the winter.

Each week at school is a different theme, and  Mallory’s class does lots of crafts to coincide with the theme of the week; it’s pretty funny to see the stuff she comes home with. She came home with a candle a few weeks ago (after the bowl trip) – you could tell that they had poured wax into a mini-milk carton (like the personal size ones), let the wax harden and then pulled the cardboard off. When I asked her about it she told me “we used the milk thing like what we had on Christmas vacation on the last day at bweakfast…” Of all the breakfasts in the whole world, drinking milk out of a small little milk carton was remarkable. It’s unbelievable. I don’t get it.

This is one of the crafts Mallory had in her cubby to bring home. I asked her what it was and she told me “it’s a sad light!”. I believe there was an implied “you dummy” after she told me that because how could I have not known it was a sad light. Luckily I knew that week’s theme was Space.

Because this, my friends, is a satellite.

And Mallory informed me that it takes pictures of earth.

Duh.
