I think I still owe this blog some pictures of our new house since we’ve lived here for about eight months. Well, here are the first official pictures of a room in our new house!
Most of the colors in our house are acceptable – like I wasn’t in a huge hurry to have to paint stuff (aside from painting Mallory’s room pink & purple as soon as we moved in) – but our half bath that is just off our kitchen really bugged me. It was a dark red/maroon/orangey color – and it made the rest of the more neutral colors in the house seem more ethnic than we wanted them to be. So I took advantage of us having no plans last weekend and promptly planned to paint the half bath. I wanted something “funner”…and I picked out a color called “Fruit Punch”. If that name doesn’t scream FUN – I don’t know what does.
Here are some before pictures (we’d already removed the towel rack & toilet paper holder).
Rick and his “helper”:
After a coat of primer (Rick didn’t yet know of my plan to replace the towel & toilet paper holders)…
The ceiling. It was a weird color – not white, not yellow, not grey – just weird. So we made it white. Because white ceilings aren’t weird. Now sounds like a good time to point out that the ceiling in Carson’s room is green. Not the same shade of green as his walls, but a lighter green. But green. Who paints their ceilings green? I have a very ambitious plan for his room…and it involves doing blue & white rugby stripes on one wall…Rick isn’t so sure.
But I digress.
Here is the room totally primed.
Testing out the Fruit Punch. Hmmm…
Oy. At this point I’m thinking maybe Fruit Punch wasn’t a great idea and was thinking the whole “paint a spot on a wall before starting the whole room and look at it for a few days” idea might have been good one. Hmmmm…
Oh. Interesting. It’s not a deep red anymore. Hmmm.
And it started growing on me.
It is definitely WAY fun and not as PINK PINK PINK as I was worried it was going to turn out after we first started.
Even looking over towards that end of the house right now, it’s more “me”. Because I’m fun. Even though I drive a minivan.
