I’ve been in denial for a month or so that my sweet baby boy could be turning two. But it happened today. And I didn’t die. But I was sad.
The funny thing is that I think Carson knew I didn’t want him to turn two because the past couple of days if you ask him how old he’s going to be, he’d point one finger and say “uhn”. We’d tell him no – he was going to be two! and show him two fingers.
Then he’d say NO!!!! and tell us “uhn” with one finger. It was a pretty funny game. Notice his one finger and sly grin in the second picture…and make sure you watch the video at the bottom…
Not really birthday related, but sort of. Both kids have been morons the past few days. Carson hasn’t been sleeping well, and both kids have been grumpy and blah. Carson’s birthday day was no exception. But – no matter how grumpy Carson was, if you started talking about his birthday or singing Happy Birthday to him, he would start smiling and giggling. It was adorable.
I tried to have a little photo session with him today – but all he wanted to do was go outside and throw the ball for Cooper (Carson will stand on the deck and yell “DOP!” {drop} at the dog and when Cooper finally drops the tennis ball, he’ll yell “GOOOOO” and point down the stairs until Coops takes off, and then Carson will throw the ball over the railing of the deck, and usually Cooper will catch it in the air…pretty funny). So while I was trying to get him to smile and follow direction, he had a little tear running down his cheek.
We had my birthday celebration last night, and then today my dad came over to take us to dinner, and Carson opened his presents. He got a big sand/water table, some new kicks (see third picture above), a new puzzle, some cars, a car packpack (so hopefully he’ll give up his sister’s Princess packpack) and a couple of Fisher Price car ramps. There were so many fun gifts we saw and wanted to get him, but when we remembered that he’s happy with his cars & his footballs, we figured we’d keep it simple while we can.
And as promised…Carson arguing about how old he is.
