Carson’s words just keep coming and coming.
It may have taken him almost 26 months to learn it, but once he started using “Mommy momma moooooommmmmmm”, he mastered it very quickly.
It’s not fun when it’s being screamed from his crib when he should be sleeping, but having it yelled “HI MOMMMMMMMY!” when I get to daycare in the afternoon or when I walk in his room in the morning makes my insides smile. His “dayee” (daddy) usage is climbing, but “mommy” still tops the charts.
Tonight on our walk he found a new sentence: “Mommy! Ait!” for “mommy, WAIT!” while he ran …

My miles
I got a new lens the other day, which meant I wanted to play and play and play with it. Mallory was my semi-unwilling model. Unwilling in the sense that she wouldn’t sit and let me actually practice for reals, but willing in the sense that she would smile while doing her running, because she had to do her “miles” with her jogging stroller.
Pay no mind to the orange V-8 juice mustache.
That’s my iPhone on the front of her stroller so she could have music while did her “miles”.
Oh, and you probably forgot we have a dog. Here he is.
Gentle Feet
Mallory wanted to take Cooper for a walk today because she wanted to push her jogging stroller around the block.
I can’t get over how chunk-a-licous Carson’s legs look in these pictures. He is starting to lose some of his chunk but his legs honestly look like tree trunks in these mesh shorts and the little white socks and adidas shoes. I can’t STAND it.
With all the rain we’ve had, the kids & I have done some worm hunting. Which then morphed in to Carson hunting for every bug and worm and dead dandelion stem (because when dandelions are dead, their …
Whatever works, I guess
The past two nights are the first nights in forever that Mallory didn’t fall asleep in our bed and didn’t have a fit about it.
We just set up the little toddler bed in Carson’s room, because we think he’s getting close to trying to climb out of his crib. Carson thought his new bed was pretty cool, but chose his crib at bedtime.
Mallory, however, wanted to sleep in the little bed in his room so we let her. Rick and I are still amazed that we didn’t hear one word from either of them and they both fell right asleep …
Won’t you be my neighbor
Who wouldn’t love living in a neighborhood like ours, with neighbors that text you at 8.30p asking “Are your kids asleep? Want to come have a beer on the deck?”
Um, OK!
But I do have to share this picture, because I can…sometimes we live in the Dexter trailer park, like when the aforementioned neighbors put all their deck furniture out in the yard and start grilling on the grass. How embarrassing! Luckily they had their deck stripped and put back together before they invited us for beers.
So many outfits, so little time
If only I really could take fantastic pictures of my kids in every “I TOTALLY want to take a picture of them in that outfit!” outfit.
The reason this doesn’t happen as often as you’d think it should is because my kids are completely and totally sick of the camera. Pretty fun to be a photographer and your favorite subjects run from you, screaming “NOOOOO!!!!”
Here is the infamous Dominican “Gepluglick” (Republic) sundress and an overly adorable pink & white button down shirt. Add in a gorgeous day and grass that was finally starting to turn green, and some kids who were …
It’s getting HOT in here
After an insanely brutal winter, and an unbelievably long spring, and entirely too much rain, it seems like maybe – FINALLY – summer is almost upon us.
The forecast Tuesday called for a high of 63 and a chance of rain.
When we got home from work/school, it was gorgeous and sunny and in the EIGHTIES!
So I did what any good mom would do – I grabbed the hose, my camera, a beer and a lawnchair and let my kids play in our ghetto baby pool.
My New Coach
Update on my couch to 5k training.
I was supposed to run 25 minutes straight this morning. After 10 minutes I had to stop. I knew I couldn’t do 15 more so I walked 5 and then ran the last 10.
When I was done I told Rick that I decided that 10 minutes is my limit and I don’t care that it’s all I can do.
Mallory (who was up at 5.15a with her brother and played in the basement the entire time Rick and I were working out) said:
“Why wouldn’t you at least TRY?”
Damn. Nothing like being called out by a …
Girls on the Run
So.
Me in running clothes. Who’d a thunk?
Remember back in March when I talked about doing my 30-day Shred challenge with my neighbor? Well, that ended on March 30, and then my friend Jen (or “Biggie” to Carson & Mallory) talked Rick & me into doing the Warrior Dash – which is a 3-ish mile race through an insane obstacle course (think running through swamps, and over junkyard cars). Not real sure about that minor lapse in judgment, but we’ll have fun.
I decided to try to start the Couch to 5K program again so that I wouldn’t embarrass myself in the …
A softball girl watching softball girls
I realized I’ve only posted pictures of Carson at the softball games…so here’s one of Mallory.
As you can see, her curls love the humidity and much to Mallory’s chagrin, she won’t have straight hair any time soon.
