When we started talking about Halloween this year, I wasn’t sure what Mallory would say she would want to be. I thought it would be some sort of princess/fairy hybrid thing.
So color me tickled when she said she wanted to wear Bryce’s old Michigan football uniform for Halloween this year. There was still lots of time for her to change her mind so color me even more tickled when she consistently and unwaveringly told us and everyone that she still wanted to be a Michigan football player for Halloween.
I really got excited when I found out Mallory got to wear her Halloween costume to dance class the week before Halloween. A ballet & tap dancing football player? I couldn’t STAND it.
Mallory sort of didn’t want to wear her costume to dance but I totally bribed her and told her she could have chocolate milk for dinner. On our way to dance that day I told her that some people might giggle and laugh at her costume but only because it was so silly to see a dancing football player. She is still a little shy at dance class but I think she was a little extra shy because of her costume. Good thing she didn’t know I could totally see her pink underpants through her yellow football pants. We added in some pink eyeblack (eyepink?) to top off her uniform for dance class.
But I thought it was AWESOME that she didn’t leave dance class and tell me that she had changed her mind and that she now wanted to be a princess/fairy for real Halloween.
I tried to talk her into letting me make her curly hair into dreadlocks or cornrows to complete the look but she said no.
The BEST part of her costume, though, was that she got to use a real helmet to go trick or treating (see bottom picture).
Carson wasn’t sure about trick or treating – he didn’t understand that he would get tons of candy (that we wouldn’t let him eat much of) and get to stay up a little past his bedtime. But when it came time to go, he did want to go with us – which was cool. We told him he was Alex the Lion from his favorite movie Madagascar, and he would give people the cutest roooaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrr after they gave him candy.
We went trick or treating with Alli and Lauren & Liam; and after making a trip around the neighborhood we came home and handed out candy for the last 30 minutes of trick or treat time. Carson was standing on the porch singing “CANDY! CANDY!” to the kids walking by. I have video and will try to add it this post in a few days.
In other news, life has been crazy. I had eight photo sessions a couple weekends ago and wasn’t looking forward to the editing time I had ahead of me. But I banged it out and have just one session left to edit. I have just two more sessions scheduled for this month and then I think I’m done until after Christmas!
So the equipment manager couldn’t get her dancing cleats??
I love it!!
