Thursdays of away game weeks aren’t my favorite nights. I’m tired, the kids are tired, and Mallory has rock climbing until 7p on Thursdays (and the kids are usually close to getting in their pajamas around 7p, so to not even be home at 7p is already a strike against us).
Then add in getting home, getting diapers changed, getting in pajamas, getting teeth brushed, getting kids to take their various asthma and coughing medicines, plus getting kids in bed and to sleep as quickly as possible because with Rick gone, I have to get kids to their various destinations early enough on Friday morning so that I am at work by 7a.
And I have to get breakfasts and lunches ready for the Friday (Rick usually handles that task), and do the garbage and recycling (also a task that Rick handles), before getting myself in bed early enough because the next morning will come fast and be hectic.
Bedtimes aren’t usually a problem, but they aren’t usually this easy. I told the kids they could fall asleep in my bed tonight (“special treat” because Rick is gone…). We read a chapter of some Christmas book Mallory wanted to read and I told them they had to go RIGHT TO BED or else it was back to their own beds. Carson asked for some duddles from me and I told him Mallory could duddle him and he protested a little bit but as I left them room, Mallory was getting the two of them all settled in the middle of the bed.
I FOR SURE thought I’d hear and/or see one and/or the other.
There was NO WAY I thought they’d go to bed this easily.
But when I went to check on them 30 minutes later… this is what I found.
My sister has always said that God won’t give us more than we can handle – and I laugh because my kids are pretty easy most of the time so God must know I need a lot of help.
So…on this third day of the month of being thankful – I am thankful for these fantabulous-super-amazing-great-smart-funny-wonderful-loving kids that I am honored to be a mama to.
Love it. Go blue.
How cute that they cuddled together?! And I love that Carson is such a cuddle bug – everyone tries to say boys don’t cuddle (they’re so wrong)!
