I’m writing this post about two months after the fact. Still makes me feel like a horrible mom.
It was a Wednesday, the last Wednesday in October. The Wednesday before Mallory’s birthday party and and the Wednesday before Halloween.
We got home from Mallory’s swim class and she was acting CRAZY. Like everything was making her mad and she was unable to calm herself down, and I was unable to calm her down.
It got so bad that I showed her one of the presents we knew we were sending back and told her that we were going to give …

A new season is upon us
With football season being done, so is Carson’s obsession with football guys.
He is now in love with his hockey guys.
Guess we will have to invest in the baseball guys for his birthday in April.
Later on Mallory & Carson were playing school or family or something, and Carson thought the three sisters (all named Katelyn) would want his toys. They have football guys, hockey goals, Mater and Lightening McQueen, and a couple of candy canes. This picture cracks me up.
My single mom days between Christmas and the bowl trip.
I was sort of dreading the two whole days I was going to be home alone with the kids after Rick left for New Orleans on Christmas Day (and we weren’t leaving until December 28).
We spent some time at my dad’s house on Christmas day – we watched the UM-Nebraska game, and Carson first learned “Denarding”.
Santa comes to my dad’s house for the kids…and “Santa” brought Mallory & Lauren eye shadow. This is Mallory’s self-portrait so she could see what she looked like after applying some makeup.
Here she is again after going CRAZY with the eye shadow (and she had …
Geaux Blue!
FINALLY it was game time!
We hopped on the bus at the hotel to head to the SuperDome. We got the always fun police escort and it took us right down the middle of the trolley tracks on Canal Street. It was awesome, especially when Biggie pointed out (via text) that I was getting a police escort to a tailgate.
Mallory got confused by the scoreboards. She thought that the numbers next to the TOL (Time Outs Left) meant the score. She finally found the real score and said “OH! There it is! It keeps trying to trick me!”
Ryan was a few …
More New Orleans
New Years Day found us at the Aquarium and Insectarium. Mallory only liked the sharks and the pizza at lunch. She still had a really wiggly tooth.
Miss Amy, Denard, Denard, Mallory, Riley & Braden
Mallory with her new friend Riley.
My goofball being a goofball.
Mallory & Riley, with Mallory’s bratty younger brother who wanted to be in the picture.
The two Denards. The funny thing about this picture is that when Carson first got up there, he had his arms wrapped around Mikey’s neck, and Mikey wasn’t a big fan of that.
Mallory & Riley
There was a hurricane simulator thing. Carson …
You Norleans–the beginning
We arrived in New Orleans Wednesday afternoon. A mixup on the plane caused us to not get lunch, so my first order of business was food for the kids.
We found a little spot across the street from the hotel (Daisy Dukes) and the kids ordered pizza, and I ordered a bloody mary. I semi-noticed that the menu said unlimited bloody marys, but didn’t think about it until my drink was almost gone and the waitress asked if I wanted another drink. She brought another drink which, after traveling all day with two semi-grumpy kids, I had no problem almost finishing.
But …
