I got my first iPhone three years ago…and I have yet to delete a picture from my iPhone album (and because I’m semi-good about backing it up, I haven’t *lost* any pictures yet – probably just the ones I took just prior to leaving/losing it in a cab in NYC two years ago…but anyway).
So…when I have a spare minute or two, I love to go back and look through my iPhone photo album. These pictures are some of the very first I took with my iPhone in January-March 2009. Mallory was just a few months past her second birthday, and …

Riding the rails with Grandpa
When my dad asked about what Mallory wanted/needed for Christmas, I looked around our house and realized there wasn’t much she needed. There are plenty of things she would say she wanted but nothing she needed.
We’ve talked about maybe taking the train to Chicago one of the times that we go and it never seems to work out for us to travel by rail.
This, along with the memory of my dad taking me by train to Battle Creek when I was about Mallory’s age for a tour of the Kellogg cereal factory, led me to suggest to my dad that …
All boy
I don’t ever want to forget how Carson sometimes sleeps flat on his back, with his hands behind his head.
Just like his dad.
Manners
On the way home from work today, I picked up Carson and when we got in the car and started driving – he out of the blue asked “sooo…how was yer werk doday, mommy?” (so how was your work today, mommy?).
I told him I had a good day, and thanks for asking.
He then asked “what did you do dere, mommy?”
I told him I had a meeting with my boss, and that I had yogurt for a snack (he grinned) and a lunchable for lunch (he giggled), and that I worked on the computer.
He also asked how daddy’s work was and …
My Sweethearts
I think I haven’t taken any pictures in February.
Well, except for on my phone and those don’t count, really.
But here are some pictures from January – I took these for the kids Valentines cards for school.
I got out Carson’s pink & white striped oxford and he said “THAT’S A GIRL SHIRT!” and I told him that handsome boys could wear pink too so he decided he could wear it. But he made it clear that only girls and handsome boys could wear pink shirts.

We had a great week here – the kids weren’t sick, and I’m getting more …
Work
Mallory asked me today what DAY she was born (like what day of the week). I told her she was born on a Monday.
“Whoa! You didn’t have to go to work that day!”
Nope, you’re right. I didn’t have to go to work that day.
Then she said that on the day Carson was born, I was bored.
Um, bored isn’t how I’d describe that day.
No more ‘Nard
Carson doesn’t say ‘Nard anymore. Our quarterback’s name is now Denard.
Stupid kids and their growing up and figuring out the right way to say things.
Things Carson says…
“Keep your ball on the eye!”
“Why can’t I hit my sister with my hockey stick? I am MEAN at you because you won’t let me hit my sister with my hockey stick.”
“I am OUT OF BOUNDS…now it’s time for my HOCKEY STICK!”
CWB: “I want to read DIS book”. MCB: “You can’t even read.” CWB: “Yes I can! I WUV to read this book.”
This morning, I went into Carson’s room to wake him up. He said “I JUST took a NAP and slept right HERE!”. I asked him if he wanted to wake …
My new work
So – this new job I just started this week. Mallory had been asking a bunch of questions about my new job and my new job friends, and last week I drove by where my new office is so she could see where it was.
On my second day, I participated in a walk-thru of some buildings on the athletics campus. It was pretty fun because as we did our inspections, I got to see Biggie and Bonnie and Hutch, and the volleyball coach and Mallory’s dance teacher and Riley’s dad.
I had to the tell the story a million …
Murphy’s Law
We’ve had a hell of a week around here.
I started a new job at the University this week – one that requires meetings and one-on-ones with my boss and visits to buildings on campus, along with a class I am taking on Wednesday nights (as part of my job). I am super excited about this new position and was fired up to start.
I’ll back up here and talk about Carson’s poop. It isn’t the point of the story but it’s relevant. Carson didn’t poop much last week. He pooped Sunday night (reluctantly) so we started him on Miralax. Then he …
