Daddy & Daughter

Mallory had a big date night earlier this month…the much anticipated “Daddy-Daughter Dance”.

She was FIRED UP the week leading up to the event. She talked about how what if it was called the “Daddy-Daughter Kissing Dance”, or what if it was called the “Daddy-Daughter dance but with no daddies”.

Every day she woke up and told us how many more days until the dance, etc.

The morning of the dance she wanted to put on her dress at 7a. Later that day we were at the mall and I found a much more A-DORABLE dress that we talked Gigi into buying for the dance. I had also ordered her a corsage, and Rick a boutonniere. Did you know that boutonniere is a *really* hard word to spell?

Rick took her to Aubrees for dinner before the dance, since that’s what you do on a date. They double-dated with Addy & Mr Bob from across the street. I would have paid money to watch them have dinner.

Here they are before the dance. She was so stinking excited it was so awesome. I think she might have been most excited to hang out with her friends on a Saturday night, because, you know, like, Laci and Emma and Delaney and Sydney were all going to be there. And maybe Ana.

And since I took Mallory’s picture by herself before the dance, she made me take Rick’s picture too.

Carson & I had our own date night after they left (well, and after Carson woke up from a super-long nap). We went to Aubrees too, since that is *the* place to go for dinner on a Saturday night. We ended up seeing Mallory & Rick leaving the restaurant as we pulled in :-)

When we got inside, there were still a bunch of daddies and daughters finishing dinner before heading to the dance, so Carson & I had a bit of a wait. When we gave our name to the hostess, I tried to be funny and say that we were there for Mommy-Son Date Night. Either I’m not very funny, or the 17-yr old hostess chick didn’t get my really awesome sense of mom humor, because she just stared at me and said it would be a 30-minute wait.

When the daughter got home with her daddy after the dance, she told me they danced to the FIREWORKS song (Katy Perry), but that they didn’t play the song what Denard dances to, and they didn’t even play the Michigan Wolverine song!

  1. That is adorable! Was it through school or a community thing? Hopefully that have fun events that include mommy too!
