Carson

Carson at 3

I need to get Carson’s birthday interviews going but in lieu of that, I’ll share some other stuff he’s doing/saying.

But first – he had his well-child doctor’s appointment last week. I had to wake him up at the daycare for his appointment and he was sort of a mess when we got to the doctor. He snapped out of it quickly and turned on the charm for the pediatrician. It was hysterical.

She was happy to hear that he’s sleeping well, and eating well, and that he’s totally potty-trained, even at night. She isn’t worried about his speech (even though I told her that Rick has a hard time understanding him sometimes), and isn’t worried that his voice is so hoarse (since Mallory had the same voice when she was younger) and was impressed at how coordinated he is (he gets that from me).

Then on Monday (a week after his birthday), we had our follow-up with the allergist regarding his possible peanut allergy. They did a skin test (negative) and a blood test (where Carson didn’t even flinch when they poked him with the needle – it was bizarre to witness). We got the call today that the blood test tested negative for peanuts! So now we get to do the challenge test in the allergist office. When I told Carson he was going to get to eat peanut butter he protested “BUT I CAN’T EAT PEANUTS!” The doctor actually said that it is a common problem at this age because the kids don’t get that it’s OK. Haha.

But on to the funny things.

  • Last week he was standing at the potty going potty and I heard him spit (which isn’t a real spit, it’s a pretend spit). I looked at him and asked him if he just spit and he said yes. When I asked where he learned that, he said “Weo” taught him. I was CRACKING UP.
  • I was getting ready to walk out the door this morning for work and I sneezed – he said “DO YOU NEED A DISSUE, MOMMY?”
  • I was helping him get dressed the other day and my cheek was right in his face. I was told that I have a lot of “polka dots” on my cheek. Thanks, dude.
  • Once he goes to bed at night he doesn’t leave his room – so he could be screaming at me that he wants to come downstairs but I ignore him and then he will yell “BUT I GOTTA GO POTTY!” so I tell him “THEN GO POTTY!” and then he yells back “OK!” and goes to the bathroom and washes his hands and goes back to bed, where he starts to yell some more that he wants to come out of his bedroom.
  • I think I’ve written before about how he’ll ask how our day was, but it is becoming a joke. As soon as I start to ask how school was, he gets this shit-eating grin and says “So how was YOUR day at WORK?”. When I say it was good, he grins again and says “what did you do der?” and “what did you do AFTER dat?”

He is seldom at rest and he wears me out – i.e. “mom, I MIGHT need some help wiv dis puzzle” and “WILL YOU PWAY BASEBALL WIV ME???” He is ridiculously adorable and sweet and I could give him kisses on his sweet cheeks all day and night. Love him like crazy.

Things have been hectic here, between getting our house put back together, and Rick being busy with football, and me being busy with class (only one night of class left this semester!), and Carson being busy with turning three and swim lessons, and Mallory being busy with dance and rock climbing and swim class. I’m looking forward to some down time in the next few weeks! I will post a tornado update soon, too.
