Carson, Mallory, vacation

Kalahari Waterpark–May 2012

How boring are my post titles lately? I guess I am just happy to be posting so I shouldn’t beat myself up too much!

We didn’t do a big vacation in January/February like we’ve done the past few years. And then when you add in the tornado this spring – we’ve been sort of stressed out. All I wanted was to get out of town for just one night and try to not think about the house (or Rick’s training!) for a couple of days.

We ended up in Ohio at Kalahari Waterpark. The most exciting part of the trip there was when recently-potty-trained Carson had to go potty WIGHT AWAY and we were on the Ohio Turnpike, so we got to pull off on emergency stop on the side of tollroad so Carson could pee while trucks zoomed by at 70 MPH. I’m sure it must be some sort of boy “right of passage” – the first time they pee on the side of the road. I was afraid it was going to start a new trend of him wanting to go pee outside all the time but so far so good…

Anyway – got to the waterpark and we dove right in (get it? dove? at the waterpark? I’m so funny!). Different waterparks have different rules about life-jackets and this one has a rule that anyone under 48” has to wear a life-jacket all the time in the park (even in the less-than-one-foot kiddie pool). I was worried about how my kids would handle this but turns out they didn’t care about the life-jackets, which was good.

We borrowed my dad’s underwater camera for our trip. Taking pictures underwater was almost as fun as the actual waterpark.

Mallory was big enough to actually go on some of the bigger slides, but they made me incredibly dizzy so Rick had to go on those with her. Carson was totally happy on the little slides in the kid area, and the huge wave pool was fun too.

I realized that clothes hide a lot of sins. There were a lot of, um, interesting people at the waterpark.
