So – two days after Devin Gardner & Jeremy Gallon visited Mallory’s classroom, Mallory participated in “U Meet the Athlete” with the Michigan Dance Team: they did 90 minute dance practice, and then got to dance at a Michigan women’s basketball game.
We got to Crisler and as the game started, I noticed that Devin was sitting directly across the court from us (me, my mom & dad, Miss Header & Chris, my sister & her family). I [mostly jokingly] said to Mallory that she should go say hi – thinking there was NO WAY she’d go over there, seeing as how she mostly avoided them when they were at her school on Friday. But no – she jumped up, grabbed Rick’s hand and took off to go say hi.
Rick & Mallory got to Devin and they chatted for a few minutes. I.WAS.DYING. SO.WAS.MISS.HEADER. Supposedly Mallory told Devin she was dancing on the court, and that she wasn’t nervous.
Then it was time for Mallory to dance so she headed to the tunnel. When they went out to dance during the 8-minute time out, the Iowa basketball team was on the court, totally blocking our view. Mallory came back to our seats with a HUGE grin, having loved every second of her 30-second performance.
Five minutes later, my favorite Michigan quarterback posted this on his twitter. To his 23K twitter followers.
#shoutout to little Mallory just killed it dancing with M’s dance team at the Women’s bball game! “I’m not nervous!” –Mallory
And then Heather & I freaked out some more, my mom & dad tried to understand what we were freaking out about “OMG DEVIN JUST TWEETED ABOUT MALLORY OMG”.
I’m pretty sure Devin saw us freaking out across the court (I think he followed where Rick went to sit). Oops.
