Opening Day 2014

I am so terribly behind on my dear sweet blog. I hate to think about it, but maybe I need to just promise myself to post monthly or something just so I know I am keeping stuff documented!

But the big news this weekend was that we experienced our first Little League Opening Day. I was sooooo excited, and I think the kids and Rick were too. It was chilly but since my kids don’t register cold temps, they were totally fine.

Mallory is playing coach pitch softball – her team is the Dexter Sparklers.

Carson is playing t-ball  for the Volcanoes.

Paws – the Detroit Tigers mascot – showed up to throw out the first pitch to start the Little League season in Dexter. How cute is this??

I am so proud of them both, but mostly Mallory. She wasn’t a big fan of t-ball last sumer when Rick coached (and Rick wasn’t a big fan of her attitude either, calling her “uncoachable” at one point), so I wasn’t sure how this would go. But she is BEYOND excited and had so much fun at her first game. She got to play third base and while there are some (ok a lot) of things we could remind her that she needs to do, she loved every second of it and had a huge smile on her face. Her team won 15-14, and Mallory actually hit the ball every time she was up (after six coach-pitch pitches, they get you the T to hit off of).

I mean, honestly. Look at that face!!!

Carson won his game too. His season is going to be a challenge for me. The kids are so young and the games are so long that it makes it tough to sit through his games. He is totally into it though and is loving every second. Most of the kids are having fun, and thank goodness for patient t-ball coaches. :-)   Luckily I carry my knitting everywhere.

OK, off to try to blog some more while everyone is still asleep. GO DEXTER!!!
