Earlier this month, the kids and I finally were able to make the reunion weekend in Ludington with a group of my friends from freshman year at Western. We all lived together in Henry Hall and though I haven’t been great about keeping in touch, thank goodness for Facebook and for Susan for continuing to host this fun weekend.
We got there Thursday night and the kids wasted no time getting in freezing Lake Michigan – even though I forgot Mallory’s bathing suit, she just went in in her shorts & shirt (she really does love the water!). I couldn’t dare put my toes in even that night, it was so cold.
Friday was a full day on the water – kids tubed and swam and kayaked and played in the sand and the moms just sat on the beach and made sure the beach chairs didn’t float away. It was so so so much fun to catch up with these girls, and it’s hard to believe that after all these years, it was so easy to just fall into catching up. I love that my friend Susan remembers watching her first Michigan-Notre Dame football game with me in her dorm room, on her little 13″ tv. :-)

Here is the whole crew, minus a couple husbands.
Susan’s girls are wonderful hostesses – they take after their mama. My kids fell back in love with them (picking up where we left off after meeting them last summer!).
And SO fun to see my kids and Greedy’s kids hit it off so well.
On Saturady morning, Susan’s husband Hal took everyoone out on the boat again, but Carson & I stayed back. After he was finished kayaking, he & I made the mile trip down to the lighthouse pier, and then we walked 1/2 mile out to the lighthouse and then another mile back to the house. It was the most exercise I’ve gotten since the last time I went to Disney World.
How fun that Mallory learned how to paddleboard! She is such a stud.
The kids also got into kayaking. Now we really are going to have to figure out how to move back to the lake.
