I miss this place.
I really do. I miss recording all the funny stuff the kids say because they are still so crazy funny.
Mallory is doing great in 3rd grade; according to the teacher she is a dream student. Carson is doing great in kindergarten when he isn’t getting in trouble for kissing girls at lunch or trying to tackle friends in his classroom.
C has a clip chart in his classroom and the whole class starts green in the morning – you can then either move up to blue – purple – pink, or move down to yellow – orange – red.
He was doing great the first month – mostly blue & purple with a handful of pinks in there. Then October started, and he started getting comfortable with his class and we think he started showing off for some of the boys. He got two yellows in a row and I was so stressed out about it. I was so afraid that my sweet boy was being ruined by the normal kindergarten boys! The teacher assured me she wasn’t overly worried about it – he seemed to be trying to impress the rougher boys in class, and that along with general not listening, was causing him some problems. We’ve leveled out though and he’s stayed on green or above for the past few weeks. The funny thing is when I get an email from the teacher telling me that if he ever does move down to yellow during the day, he gets very crafty and helpful to find ways to get his clip moved back up. So he knows what he has to do to be a good kid but just has problems remembering sometimes.

This fall Mallory is taking ballet/tap (no jazz/hip-hop), doing DCAC swim team, Brownies again, and volleyball through the school.
Swimming is so fun to watch – even at practice I am in awe of how she just swims and swims for an hour (says the mom who has to take a minute break after one lap). Mallory has had two swim meets so far this fall and improved her times at the second meet. She has three good friends on the team so that has helped make it more fun for her.
Carson is doing basketball with Ben, and he recently started swim lessons (which may or may not be because the younger sister of one of Mallory’s swimming friends is also there for swim lessons and he may or may not have a little crush on her…). But he moved up after six lessons and he’s already announced he’s going to be on the swim team soon.
It is crazy busy but everything (except basketball) is right in town so it’s super easy!
This is how our week looks:
- Monday – Mallory has dance 5.15-6.15p; Carson has swim 6.30-7p
- Tuesday – Mallory has Brownies every other week right after school until 4.30p (and yours truly is one of the leaders); then M has swim 6-7p and Carson has swim 6.30-7p
- Wednesday – M has swim 6-7p and Carson has swim 6.30-7p
- Thursday – M has volleyball after school until 5p
- Friday – M usually has swim 6-7p
Saturdays are for football (of course!) and Sundays C has hoops 2-3p. I always tell Rick that I would trade places with him any day but seeing as how he still doesn’t remember that Mallory has dance on Mondays (and has had dance on Mondays for three years), I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be able to handle the household management portion of my job.
I have pictures galore and even some videos. Sometime soon, I promise!
