Mallory is still swimming this fall – this time for DCAC. Fall swim team was way different than summer swim team – it isn’t as warm & fuzzy as we experienced with summer. After some adjustments – to new coaches and swimming inside and cold pools – Mal-Star is rocking it. She had a couple of friends who swam this fall with her and helped with the transition to this new team.
These pictures are from a meet in Dexter in December (was just a small one-club meet – so I got to be on the deck to take pictures!). Mallory is improving every meet and it’s so fun to keep track. She has expressed dissapoinment that she isn’t winning events or heats but when I showed her how she is getting faster every week, it helped her (and me!) remember her hard work is paying off AND she is having SO MUCH FUN at practices and meets.
Notice her smiles as she swims and her flip turn that needs help. Love her.
At a meet in November, it was a bye week for Michigan and Rick mentioned to Devin that Mallory had a meet in Dexter. Amazingly he showed up and watched her swim two events. He said it was exciting and when Mallory told him she still had to swim backstroke, Devin asked “YOU CAN SWIM BACKWARDS??” It was so cute that he came out at 8.30a on a Saturday just to watch our sweet girl and see Carson.
Mallory is swimming again this next season (through March I think?) and then we’ll take spring off for softball. I really think I could be a swim mom – I can knit/crochet during the meets, Carson doesn’t have to be super quiet, Rick can get up and walk around in between her events, etc. It’s good stuff.
