I hate to say Mallory jinxed the football team, but I think Mallory jinxed the football team. Back in the summer she asked if the next time Michigan didn’t make it to a bowl game, if we could go to Colorado to ski at Christmas.
Well, we didn’t make it to a bowl game. Or even Colorado. But we did go skiing up north before Christmas. And we had a fabulous time.
These are all iPhone pictures so ignore the selfie-ism-ness of them :-D
We arrived around 5p on Saturday, thinking we’d get unpacked, swim (outside!), grab dinner and watch my Broncos play in their bowl game. Instead we arrived and upon check-in found out that our package came with night skiing passes for that evening. Scrap swimming and dinner – the kids wanted to hit the slopes!
And so we skied. We did eat dinner and I got to watch my Broncos play (they lost) but mostly we skied. And skied. And skied.
The kids were in lessons on Sunday morning (figured a refresher wouldn’t hurt, plus then Rick & I could check out some runs other than the main green loop the kids were most comfortable on). But by the end of the first morning, Mallory was ready to take on anything. That kid is so not afraid of trying new things out, it blows us away.
Going up a few days before Christmas was the best time to go ever. It wasn’t super cold yet and it was empty. Sort of like how it was when the kids & I went up over spring break last year but the snow was way better :-)
This was hysterical. There was this little run with a big curve at the bottom before it merged with another run. Carson went down ahead of me and when I finally caught up with him, he was pushing himself up and had snow on his face and he told me “I thought I could make the turn!!”. I was DYING.
The kids would have skied for days and days. Unfortunately it was warming up and raining the last morning so we called it a trip and headed home (for CHRISTMAS!!!)
