Catching Up – September 2015 style

I know I’ve said this before but I so miss being here. I wish I made more time to write here.

The kids are (mostly) still awesome. {I say mostly because oy did we have a rough bedtime tonight…}

Anyway – here’s our update:

Mallory is in 4th grade and continues to love school. She’s still swimming for the local swim club. Mal also made the 10U softball team in Dexter and is planning that Rick will still work for Michigan so he can be the equipment manager still when she gets to Michigan.

She got her ears pierced in August, just a short 4+ years ahead of schedule. I’d previously said she had to be 13 but a moment of weakness combined with a desire to have mommy-daughter time turned into getting her ears pierced. Of course the second it happened I wanted to go undo it and have my sweet girls ears back to their un-pierced state. But she was so proud of her new earrings. Plus, she still throws a mean temper-tantrum so it’s easy to remember she isn’t sooooo grown up just yet.

Carson, aka C-Dog, aka C-Pup, is doing just fine, thankyouverymuch. We are so proud of how well he’s adjusted to first grade and the increased schoolwork. He was a pretty slow worker last year, plus it was just kindergarten, so I still just DIE when I see his work come home with real words on it. That he’s written. All by himself!! OMG MY BABY ISN’T A BABY ANYMORE!

Last week he had a spelling test and it had the word “yellow” on it. He actually spelled it correctly and when I complimented him on his great spelling test and spelling yellow right, he told me that it was on the wall in the classroom. I emailed the teacher to let her know that Carson cheated, and she let me know that she calls is resourceful – that if the kids can remember that it is up in the classroom, and can find it – more power to them. Ha!

Carson started flag football this fall and loves it. I’ve only made it to one of his games so far (Mallory’s softball practices are at the same time so it’s been hard) but I love hearing his report outs after each game. He has football gloves and has to wear a mouthguard, which he wore every day for four days after he got it.
