Carson – who is probably too old to still be sleeping in our bed but I don’t care – still sleeps in our bed almost every night. Rick should move him, and does sometimes, but when he doesn’t, stuff happens like it did this morning.
My alarm went off, and I hit the snooze button and turned over. Carson was right there and threw his arm over my neck and said quietly, “hi momma”. When my alarm went off again, he again opened his eyes and gave a little smile and quietly said “the birds are awake!”
I love love love the …
Year: 2015
Literally
“Mommy! You are literally on my pillow!”
Opening day 2015
Rick & I decided to get Carson tickets for the Detroit Tigers’ Opening Day game for his birthday. The game was during the day, during Carson’s spring break, and spring football was over so Rick could take him.
Bonus points because Carson’s favorite player, Awex Abiwa (Alex Avila) hit a home run, thus the towel waving in second picture.
Mallory and Cooper
i need to make sure these pictures are somewhere Mallory will always have them. This seems as good a place as any.
I think Cooper thinks he is 20 lbs and not 65 lbs. but either way it is crazy adorable.
Lets find out!
Carson reading books at bedtime is so fun. I forget that he is actually reading until he says a word quietly out loud.
Tonight he turned the page and said “WHOA!! What is that?” Then he said “let’s find out!” And kept reading.
He is awesome.
Miss Basketball
Our sweet girl picked up a new sport this winter and Mallory is having so much fun. I love that she is showing an interest in a variety of sports and activities (she’s doing a theatre camp over spring break!) and isn’t afraid to express her feelings about each. For instance – she is constantly doing cartwheels but doesn’t want to do gymnastics. She is still doing dance but maybe this is the last year? She did volleyball last fall and liked that but chose to do hoops this session. Plus she is wrapping up her winter swim season. Rick & I …
When we get old
Carson told Rick & me last night that we can come visit him sometimes when we get old, as long as we aren’t dead. After some prodding, he said we could visit all the time. Carson told us he’d have two couches: one with a Clash of Clans spot, and one with a knitting spot.
I asked if we could ever come for dinner and he told us that he would order pizza. Or he would make us brinner (breakfast for dinner, a favorite in our house) or brunch.
I also asked if we would get to watch Michigan football games. He …
I’m going to miss this
Add this to the “I’m going to miss this” files.
In one, two, ten, thirty years, I’m going to miss the mornings when 5 yr old Carson, comes into the bathroom in the morning when I’m getting ready for work, his arms full of his stuffed bear, stuffed black lab, and two puppy blankies, sleepy eyes squinted almost shut because it’s so bright in the bathroom, and tells me he just wanted to cuddle me for a few minutes.
Sigh.
Number 12
Carson:
Devin’s old number was #12. That is a 2 number and a 3 number. Because you can get there by counting by twos and by threes.
Carson is 5, by the way
Now he’s trying to count to 98 by threes to see if it is just a two number or a two number and a three number.
Pre-Man Rush
In the car this afternoon, Carson asked me if I knew what a pre-man rush defense was. I figured he meant “three man rush” so I asked for clarification.
But no, he meant PRE MAN RUSH. That’s when anyone can go after the guy who has the ball.
Then I got asked if I knew what a free-man rush is. Because that’s when you go after the quarterback after he hikes the ball.
For more clarification, see video below.
I guess maybe we need to watch MORE football.
