I was browsing through some old pictures tonight, trying to clean up un-needed images. I came across these pictures of the kids from February when I needed them to sit in my “studio” so I could test out some new lighting techniques I’d read about.
My instructions to the kids were to sit in one spot and stay still while I changed my settings. I was hoping to fire off a bunch of pictures of the same “pose” with different settings so I could see how they all looked.
But instead, here is what I got: Carson giving himself direction, and when …

More Daily Outakes
Just downloaded a bunch of pictures off of the camera that Rick uses to take the kids pictures every morning.
I am seriously dying here.
Enjoy.
Spashl
“I am spashl beecus I have a brthr namd Carson”
Or “I am special because I have a brother named Carson”
Shenanigans
Mallory did the Shamrocks & Shenanigans race again this year – but this year she upgraded to the Kids’ 1K race, and Carson did the Kids Dash.
Carson talked about it ALL WEEK, asking us constantly “WHEN DO I GET TO DO MY WACE????”.
He was also pretty excited to do it with his buddy, Becca. Becca just turned three. Carson looks like a giant compared to her. Carson was concerned that Becca didn’t have “fast runner shoes” like he did (she had regular boring pink & brown tennis shoes, not white & blue like his).
They lined the kids …
My Tiger
This is how I found Carson asleep tonight when we came upstairs to check on him.
I think someone is ready for baseball season to hurry up and get here.
I am CARSON
Coming home from school the other day, Carson & I had a conversation that involved me asking what he did, like what his job was.
He told me: “I pway (play) with my sis.”
Yes you do, Carson.
Unless, of course, you are grumpy. Then stuff like this happens (a day later, on the way to swim class):
MCB: “Carson, you are a GOOFBALL!” CWB: “I am NOT a GOOSE BALL! I am CARSON!” MCB (laughing): “You are a goofball” CWB: “No I am NOT. I am CARSON. …
Hockey Guys
I got invited to play hockey guys tonight. Carson had the guys all lined up and I started to set my goalie up and he said “no! Dey are going in da wockerroom wight now.”
I had to beg to be the team with the #30 goalie but Carson wanted to be the yellow team.
Blah.
All boy
I don’t ever want to forget how Carson sometimes sleeps flat on his back, with his hands behind his head.
Just like his dad.
Manners
On the way home from work today, I picked up Carson and when we got in the car and started driving – he out of the blue asked “sooo…how was yer werk doday, mommy?” (so how was your work today, mommy?).
I told him I had a good day, and thanks for asking.
He then asked “what did you do dere, mommy?”
I told him I had a meeting with my boss, and that I had yogurt for a snack (he grinned) and a lunchable for lunch (he giggled), and that I worked on the computer.
He also asked how daddy’s work was and …
My Sweethearts
I think I haven’t taken any pictures in February.
Well, except for on my phone and those don’t count, really.
But here are some pictures from January – I took these for the kids Valentines cards for school.
I got out Carson’s pink & white striped oxford and he said “THAT’S A GIRL SHIRT!” and I told him that handsome boys could wear pink too so he decided he could wear it. But he made it clear that only girls and handsome boys could wear pink shirts.
