Blah.
Let me start by saying that the cowbells were obnoxious before we even got to the tailgate. The Mississippi State fans were ringing them all around downtown Jacksonville for days leading up to the game.
We had the nicest weather of the week for gameday – I made sure to sunscreen up the kids and we headed off to the stadium with the standard police escort. And nope, still doesn’t get old.
Some friends from home were down for the game and had a tailgate that the kids & I stopped by. The beer (for me) and hotdogs (for the kids) were …

Christmas Vacation, 2010, part deux
Our trip to Florida has been rather uneventful. The weather was SUPER yucky the beginning of the week so we hunkered down in the hotel and didn’t do much (like 30s and super windy, which I realize isn’t very cold, but it was cold since I didn’t bring our winter coats…)
Wednesday I was invited to go on the official wives’ trip to St Augustine. We got to have lunch and do a trolley tour of the city, and then we had some time to shop. That night I met a friend for dinner (Hi Amy!); it was awesome to eat …
Christmas 2010
Christmas 2010 was spent in a hotel room in Florida and I was determined to make it somewhat special for the kids…this is what our little tree looked like with all the presents under it on Christmas morning.
Mallory and Carson slept in until 7.20a on Christmas morning before Mallory came to my side of the bed and asked if Santa came. I told her I wasn’t sure and she said that their stockings looked like the had stuff in them. So we got Rick up (he is the WORST in the morning) and the kids anxiously awaiting the word GO …
Our semi-warm Christmas Eve
With Michigan getting to a bowl game again this year, Mallory was fired up for her Christmas vacation. Michigan became bowl-eligible with the win on her birthday, and she got a cute Princess packpack for her birthday, so she’s been talking for almost two months about how she was going to take her pink packpack on our Christmas vacation.
Rick left on the 23rd, and I flew down with the kids on Christmas Eve. We’d sent all our presents down on the equipment truck so we could celebrate Christmas together in Florida. The kids were pretty good on our flight down, …
The Refrigerator Babysitter
Is it bad that I let Carson be entertained by the fridge for 15 minutes so I could play on the computer?
Mallory just looked at these pictures with me and was quick to point out that “that’s the mess that Carson made but that I cleaned up for you”.
Carson’s Cars
Looks like Carson has a new toy obsession…it’s no longer all football guys all the time, now it’s cars on his new road rug that he got from my dad for Christmas. It is so funny to watch him sit and line them all up.
Stay tuned for pictures of Mallory’s wrap-fest; she was bored and started making Christmas presents for all of us, and then she had to wrap them. Who knew a roll of tape, scissors, crayons, some wrapping paper and a bag of bows could entertain a 4-yr old for so long? Rick & I got a kick …
Cuties by the Christmas Tree
We celebrated Christmas with my family on Sunday (since we’ll be traveling on Christmas day). As soon as my family started bringing presents in the house, Mallory was BEGGING to open them…and then her cousins started in on the begging too. The mean parents made them all wait until we had some snacks first and then they went to town. Oh, I was the mean mom & aunt that also made them pose in front of the tree with all the presents before we let them open any.
I love how excited the girls are to have their baby brothers on …
Ho ho ho
We had a successful trip to see Santa this year. Both kids were happy, but I was irritated with the guy working the Santa picture booth. He said we couldn’t take our own pictures, so we said we’d take the smallest package, got the kids’ picture taken (um, thanks for getting them looking at the camera, numb-skull), and got in line to pay our $16.99 + tax for a 5×7…when a lady walked up with her two kids, told the guy she didn’t need him to take a picture, and promptly – AND RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE GUY – …
Momma Mallory
This should be added to my “a day in the life” post…
When we get home from school and come in through the door from the garage, Mallory asks Carson if he wants to shut the door: “Carson, can you shut the door for me? Can you? Oh thanks!”
Then when we get inside, she helps him take his coat & shoes off.
Then she asks him if he wants to play.
Today it was “Carson, do you want to play with your football guys? Do you? Do you want me to play with you? Do you want the field too? Okay!”
After …
Cookies Cookies and More Cookies
I think I’ve told y’all before but my sister likes to make a lot of Christmas cookies, so the kids get to decorate a lot of Christmas cookies. They usually get bored after about 10 minutes, and then Emily & I get stuck quickly doing the rest.
I now present to you the 2010 edition of Cookie Decorating.
And then Carson got really bored.
And then we lured him back with some more cookies (the problem is that he’d start to decorate one and then immediately start to eat it…and he plays that “I can’t talk so I obviously don’t understand what you …
