We were talking today about how the football games start in a few weeks, and Mallory said “GO BLUE!” and then she said “GO BUCKEYES!”
I whipped my head around and said “WHAT did you just say?”
“I don’t know”, Mallory replied.
Then she asked “Is that a bad word?”
Rick & I both asked her what she said and she quietly said “Go Buckeyes”, and we had to tell her that yes, that was a very bad word and she better not say it if she wants to go to any football games.

Field of Dreams
There is the most fabulous park just two blocks from our new house. Two play structures (one big for the big kids and one small for the small kids), a bunch of swings, and a HUGE open field.
The kids & I trekked up there the other day and I made two mistakes. The first mistake was bringing the dog. It was insanely hot and there are no trees near the play structure to tie him up in the shade. The other mistake was letting Mallory ride her bike combined with bringing the dog. Ball boy
Carson has a new obsession with balls – he loves to carry them all around the house and throw them to whomever will oblige him a game of catch. Mostly “catch” means that he throws it wherever and then we roll it back towards him, but usually the ball bounces off his feet and then he runs off after it, laughing all the way. Oh well, he’s still young.

Carson is trying to communicate and say words. So far he’ll (sometimes) say “boo!” and I think he has a two-syllable word for Grandpa. There is also something rather consistent that I think he uses for “yes”. He’s getting better with signing “more” with his hands (usually after we ask if he wants more), and he is HUGE into shaking his head for “NO NO NO”. It doesn’t help that Mallory plays that game with him – she’ll say “NONONO” to him, and then laugh when Carson shakes his head back at her.

Much to everyone’s chagrin, I had to do something with Carson’s hair.
This is the unruly mess that greeted me every morning. Sure, those curls over his ears are sort of cute, but you can’t see the fuzziness in the back. No amount of detangling spray would keep it looking cleaned up throughout the day. And I already have one kid with out-of-control hair.

Go Tigers
One thing that’s happened with us living at my dad’s is that I’ve paid more attention the Tigers than I have in a long time. Rick has connections so one random Wednesday – it was supposed to be a gorgeous night – I asked if he could get tickets.
So, we ended up down at the Tigers game and on random luck two of our friends were there (in suites…unplanned right next to each other!). We laugh that had we tried to plan a big Tigers game outing for a Wednesday night, we’d be into 2014 before we found a night …

Busy busy busy
Ahhh…the kids are in bed before 7.30p (not without some screaming and crying, and not necessarily just by the little kids).
Hectic busy weekend and we didn’t even leave Ann Arbor (unless you count Dexter and Saline?).
Anyways…I am going to try to get back into the almost everyday journal/blogging mode. I am so far behind since I’ve yet to post about Disney so I keep thinking I need to finish that first – i’m almost done but too much other stuff is going to be forgotten if I don’t post it now.
