A bathtime before & after

September 21, 2009

Ever since we started Carson on solids, he immediately goes into the tub after dinner (we usually can’t get away with not doing bathtime every night). He still insists on trying to shove the spoon in his mouth but I’m getting back in the groove and my speed is improving so I am getting better at avoiding his grasp. But he always still ends up with some sort of food leftover on his face.
I just started having him sit up in the tub and so far he’s only fallen once.
Here is the happy bather with carrots on his face…

And here …

Swingin’ Siblings

September 20, 2009

I am beyond happy that Carson is finally big enough to fit in his outside swing – now I can sit back and let Mallory push him and not worry about him falling out. I’m still in the backyard while she’s pushing him, but I am able to do dog poop cleanup or get the mail real quick while they play.
I think this is one of my new favorite photos

With Carson’s ever increasing mobility, I’m finding that I have to mediate and redirect Mallory more & more. When Carson used to just chill in the …

I sleep in your bed

September 15, 2009

I thought I’d invite Mallory to sleep in our bed the other night – and when I asked if she wanted to sleep in my bed, she said yes and had to go pack.
She brought her blanket, two bear blankies, some water, and a paci. What you can’t see in the picture is her asking me to bring her some books.

Unfortunately when Rick came to move Mallory back to her bed, she woke up and threw a fit and didn’t want to go back to her own bed. So poor Rick had to go sleep on the couch…
So in the …

Weebles Wobble

September 14, 2009

One of my favorite things about being a mom is that I get to watch as this little person I made learns something new every single day.
It’s hard to believe that Carson is already old enough and big enough to learn how to sit up. In these pictures from last week, he’s more tripodding on his new taggie football than actually sitting up for real – and already since then he is even more steadier and less tippy. Sometimes he takes a header and comes up with a drooly face full of dog hair (Mom – settle down – I …

A GO BLUE kind of day

September 13, 2009

Holy jumping – what a game yesterday! My kids were {again} fantastic and I’d like to thank my cast of thousands who help me make it through gameday!
Carson swiped some of my pretzel and started gnawing away on it – I guess it made a good teething biscuit!

You may have noticed the Mabel’s Labels button on the right side of the blog – but I’m about to give them some real credit. Do you see Mallory’s bracelet in the picture below? I got them from Mabel’s Labels – they are the “411 wristbands” and have Mallory’s name on them along …

Sweetness

September 9, 2009

I’ve been dying to get a picture of Carson’s sweet cheeks (not the ones on his face…the other ones). I just love his little dimply tushy, especially when he sleeps with it sticking up in the air. I almost brought him upstairs with me last night even after he’d been asleep for an hour, just because I wanted to snuggle with him.
I’ve decided that 5-ish months is a pretty good age. Carson is sleeping well (knock on wood) and is so smiley and happy.

Feed the starving children

September 7, 2009

Most of my lovely readers probably don’t want to watch this video – it’s 2+ minutes of Carson slurping rice cereal. But it’s pretty funny to see him get grumpy when I am slow getting him food. Plus you can see him help rake in the spoon.

Fire up, it’s SATURDAY!

September 6, 2009

Michigan kicked off their 2009 season with a big win over my alma mater on Saturday. Everyone said I was brave to take both kids to the tailgate/game. But really it’s mostly that we aren’t rich ~ I can’t imagine my babysitting tab if I had my sister watch both kids all day on a Saturday. The weather looks shady for next weekend so I might have to figure something out. We’ll see.
But – my children were, in a word, awesome. All day long. I was a little shocked. I sort of wanted them to be jerks so I had …

Rollin, rollin, rollin

September 1, 2009

Mom of the Year that I am – I left Carson on the living room floor while I went to take pictures of Mallory & her spinny bress (another post will be coming about that). Notice that he isn’t where I left him.

He gets where he gets by rolling and spinning on his tummy. He isn’t crawling. Yet.
Editor’s Note: I know the photo is not clear, but I snapped the picture quick so I could rescue my sweet boy from the hard kitchen floor…

Finger Lickin’ Good

September 1, 2009

We are continuing with Carson’s introduction to the world of non-boob-food. So far he’s had rice cereal and just this week we started oatmeal. I got some Stage 1 fruits but decided we’ll wait until closer to 6-mos to start those.
He took after his big sister with regard to eating the cereal. I remember it took Mallory all of three days to realize that the cereal is good stuff. Carson loves it so much that he uses his hands to help rake the spoon into his mouth and then he gets sticky cereal all over his hands and face (and …
