Our First Graduation

June 17, 2011

Mallory’s pre-kindergarten graduation ceremony took place in June. I cried even though Mallory was still going to be going to that same school for the summer before starting *sniff* kindergarten.
It was very cute – both the teacher and the director of the daycare spoke, and then the kids did some of the songs they sing a lot. You could tell which kids didn’t sing the songs a lot at home because their parents were the ones who thought they were hysterical (as opposed to Christine & I who have been hearing our girls sing Tootie-Ta for at least nine months…).
Rick …

Mad Scientists

May 1, 2011

It was Rick’s birthday yesterday and we had some friends meet us out for a little bowling party. I will admit that my four year old daughter beat me in the first game (hey – she had bumpers and one of those ramp thingies) but I came back strong in the second game. But that’s not the point of the story.
It’s sort of hard to watch all of these Fish kids grow up so fast. I love watching them all be such great friends. Mallory and Kaylie (of “Kaylie’s Kloset”, the source of most of Mallory’s cool clothes) are HYSTERICAL …

We don’t get out much

December 4, 2010

I sometimes wish I’d started blogging back when I was younger, even though I don’t think blogging existed back then. I feel that my escapades with the ice capades1 and other debauchery would have made for good reads when my kids got a lot older and they’d get to see that I wasn’t always just a mom. I suppose my pre-kid scrapbooks will assist with that, but it’s not the same as the blog.
But I guess there is no time like the present. It’s been a while since my friends (affectionately referred to as The Hens2) all went out. Like, …

Halloween 2010

October 31, 2010

With Mallory getting older – and “getting it” more – events like Halloween are more fun. The excitement about her costume and candy and trick or treating has been building for weeks (not to mention that Halloween was a milestone we had to reach before it could be her BIRTHDAY).
We talked my mom into coming out to hand out candy at our house so that Rick & I could both take the kids. Alli & her folks came along, and Lauren joined us too.
The weather was chilly – but sunny – but I don’t think the kids cared. Luckily Carson …

Mallison is FOUR!

October 29, 2010

Mallory isn’t quite four (but she desperately wants to be!) but we held the girls’ joint birthday party a few weeks ago. So amazing to think that Mallory & Allison have literally been friends since the day they were born – I think it’s rare that they were lucky to find such a great friend to share almost every single day with over the past almost four years.
I don’t think I was a big blogger back when Mallory was little so I’m pretty sure I didn’t share this gem back in the day.
I think it was Mallory’s first or second …

Noisy Shoes

August 19, 2010

Mallory graduated to pre-ballet & tap this summer (from her regular old creative movement dance class she was in last year).
They alternate weeks of ballet & tap and you know I keep the tap shoes in the car lest I forget what week we are on and don’t have them with us.
Today was the last day of class so we asked (and were granted) permission to watch class. And because I’m *that mom*, I had my camera.
Good thing, because if I hadn’t brought my camera – who would have gotten a picture of Mallory’s super-wedgie?

And we wouldn’t have this picture …

Mallorina the Ballerina

June 11, 2010

Mallory’s very first dance recital is this weekend. I am so stinking excited I can hardly stand it. I took ballet (and tap and toe) for eight years but didn’t start when I was three. Mallory LOVES dance class and loves when it’s Thursday because it’s “dance class day”.
Her dress rehearsal was last night and it was the only time we were able to take pictures and video. Here is a little sampling of the 27+ minutes of footage that Rick took. He has plans (in his free time) to make a little movie with video of her getting ready …

Mallory’s dance recital is next weekend and tonight was picture night. The girls got to get all dolled up in their costumes, complete with hair & makeup. :-)
How cute are these girls?

The Michael Jordans of Ballet

March 13, 2010

Normally dance class is held back in a secret room, and the parents aren’t allowed to watch. Mostly I think because we are a HUGE distraction to the girls and they won’t focus on the teachers. But once in a while, they let us watch, and Thursday was one of those days.
How cute are these little girls, with their tongues sticking out in some serious concentration? You can see “Cafrine” (Catherine) and Alli in the first three pictures.
The girls are gearing up for their June recital. I can’t wait.

F is for…

October 8, 2009

My choice for F was pretty easy (well except for my debate over whether I should do F is for football or F is for friends…but anyway).
Mallory & Allison have been best friends ever since they started daycare the same week when they were just months old. One of my favorite things is when Mallory couldn’t say “Alli”, so she started to call her “Yaya”, and then EVERYONE at daycare started to call her Yaya – teachers, other kids, etc.
Now the girls are known collectively as “Mallison”.
Click here for more of my Alphabitty entries, and you can read about this …
