Mallory & I had a little field trip today to visit my pregnant friend Jen and her family (son Kyle & husband Ed). Surprise Playdate!
Mallory & Alli had a surprise playdate tonight! Alli’s mom had some crazy stuff go down at work today and called with to see if we could bring Alli home with us from school for a few hours. Funny Mallory & Alli story again today. I had to use the bathroom when I got to daycare today. As I’m going potty, both Mallory & Alli were pounding on the door yelling for me. I heard Alli yell “MOMMY”. And then I heard Mallory yell “NO!!!!! MY MOMMY!!”

Almost in Trouble
From the minute I picked her up from daycare yesterday, I was prepping Mallory for the fact that she was going to sleep in her OWN bed. I don’t mind letting her sleep in our bed as a treat but the night before last (Monday night) she ended up in our bed all night and I got zero sleep.
So, whenever I’d tell her “you are going to sleep in your own bed tonight!”, Mallory would reply, “mmmooooo”, while shaking her head, “mommy bee-bee (which I am guessing means bed)”.

Another trip up the chain!
One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to make the cruise up the chain of lakes to Zukey Lake Tavern. It takes us about 1.5 hours each way and there are always other boats to look at and say hi to, and turtles to watch for so Mallory is mildly entertained. That and we always have friends with us to make the trip :-)

I love having 3-day weekends – we have had so much fun just hanging out. I should say that I like this 3-day weekend – it’s the only holiday that we know for sure that Rick doesn’t have to work.
We spent yesterday on the boat again; we headed to the sandbar and Mallory & Rick hung out and swam and played for a bit. Mallory loves the water and the splashing daddy. :-)

Happy 4th of July!
Ok, so it’s not a real original blog post title but oh well.
Our long holiday weekend started off on Thursday. Thanks to some monster storms that blew through Wednesday night, daycare was without power on Thursday. Rick was already scheduled for a vacation day, and had grand plans of biking, kayaking and windsurfing, but they got squashed just like the fence in our back yard did by the storms. And then it got worse for him when I volunteered him for Alli duty too, since Alli’s folks didn’t have anyone to watch her. :-)
